Pianist, conductor and composer Xiaohan Wang, began his musical education at the Beijing Central Conservatory of Music where he studied with professors Jin Aiping, Li Qifang and Zhou Guangren. In 1998 he continued his piano studies at the Hannover Hochschule für Musik und Theater with Prof. Arie Vardi and since 2005 also with Prof. Matti Raekallio. Wang graduated from the Hochschule für Musik und Theater and received his Solo Performance Degree (Konzertexamen) in 2010. In 2012, Wang become a principal teacher at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing.

Wang has won prizes in several prestigious piano competitions in Europe and the USA, including the ARD International Music Competition in Munich, Germany and the Eleventh Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in Fort Worth, USA.

Wang has appeared at several important international festivals such as the Ravinia and Gilmore Festivals in the United States, the Beethoven Festival in Germany, the Arthur Rubinstein Festival in Israel, and the “Hundred Pianists in the 20th Century” concert series in Tokyo, Japan.

Major orchestras with which he has performed include the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra (USA), the Bavarian Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra (Germany), and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2007 he played and conducted Beethoven’s 2nd Piano Concerto with the Beijing Music Conservatory Symphony Orchestra. His performance of this concerto, with the Köln Chamber Orchestra conducted by Maestro Helmut Müller-Brühl, was recorded and published by “Naxos”.

As a composer whose works have been performed by young artists and by himself, Wang has earned the critics' acclaim. His debut compositions concert was held in May 2006 at the Beijing Concert Hall. The following year he was commissioned to compose the compulsory piece for the Beethoven International Piano Competition in Bonn. In June the same year Wang performed his own composition, “A Lost Diary”, at the “Palatino” Chinese Piano Composition Competition held in Beijing, and was awarded both the 2nd Prize for Composition and the prize for best performance. In 2008, Wang's violin composition was awarded 3rd prize at the “Palatino” Violin Composition Competition in Beijing.
