Music of the Baroque, in partnership with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association, the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie, and Concert Theatre Works, presents the Midwest premiere of The Chevalier. Known as The Chevalier de Saint-Georges, 18th-century Black composer Joseph Bologne was a virtuoso violinist, a friend of Mozart and Marie Antoinette, the finest fencer in Europe, general of Europes first Black regiment, and a crusader for the abolishment of slavery. Weaving together Bolognes own music with semi-staged dialogue, The Chevalier ultimately offers a thoughtful meditation on the true nature of equality.Dame Jane Glover conducts the Music of the Baroque Orchestra and violin soloist Brendon Elliott in this concert theater work featuring four outstanding actors, written and directed by Bill Barclay.SUNDAY, February 20, 2022, 8:00 PM CSTSymphony Center220 South Michigan Ave, ChicagoTickets: $25-$100Written and directed by Bill BarclayMusic by Joseph BologneAdditional music by Mozart & GlckMusic arranged by Bill BarclayMusic of the Baroque OrchestraDame Jane Glover, conductorBrendon Elliott, violin
