The 85th Annual Drama League Awards will be held this morning at the Marriott Marquis Times Square at 11:30am. Read up on the nominees below!

Hamilton in Chicago has announced its closing date. The show will play its final performance on January 5, 2020 at Chicago's CIBC Theatre.

Tootsie is hitting the road! The Broadway hit has announced it will embark on a National Tour. In addition, the show will open productions in the West End, Australia, and Japan!

The musical HAMILTON will conclude its more than three (3) year run in Chicago at Broadway In Chicago's CIBC Theatre (18 W. Monroe St.) on January 5, 2020, it has been announced by producer Jeffrey Seller. Chicago was the first city outside New York where HAMILTON opened; the production began performances on September 27, 2016 at what was then The PrivateBank Theatre.. (more...)

The Drama League Awards will be held tonight!

The 85th Annual Drama League Awards will be held at the Marriott Marquis Times Square (1535 Broadway) on Friday, May 17, 2019 at 11:30am. Tickets and tables to the star-studded luncheon are available for purchase at www.dramaleague.org or by calling The Drama League at 212.244.9494; VIP tickets include access to the nominees' reception.

The Drama League previously announced the 2018 Special Recognition Award Recipients: Tony® Award winner Kelli O'Hara will receive the Distinguished Achievement in Musical Theater Award; director Alex Timbers will receive The Founders Award for Excellence in Directing; and Taylor Mac will receive the Unique Contribution to the Theater Award.

At the 2007 Tonys, Bob Martin, a 2019 nominee for his book for The Prom, took home the award for Best Book for the hilarious new musical The Drowsy Chaperone.

That night Martin also took the stage for a performance with star Sutton Foster and the company in his Tony-nominated role as lonely Broadway enthusiast Man In Chair. Wake Up With BWW 5/17: Drama League Awards, and More!

The 11-Time Tony Award-nominated musical, Tootsie, will launch a North American Tour at Shea's Buffalo Theater in Buffalo, New York, in Fall 2020. Additionally, today the Tootsie producers have confirmed several international productions.

-Scott Sanders Productions and Carol Fineman will partner with Michael Harrison and David Ian to bring the acclaimed musical to the West End in 2021.

-An Australian production of Tootsie, in partnership with Benjamin Lowy Productions, is confirmed. The production will also play in New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

-A Japanese-language production of Tootsie, produced by TOHO Co., Ltd., will premiere in Tokyo and will subsequently tour to several other major cities across Japan. Exact timing will be announced in the coming months.

On yesterday's episode of 'Broadway Week' on "Live with Kelly and Ryan," Kelly Ripa goes behind the scenes of "Tootsie." She sits down with Santino Fontana, and even tries to take home his character's iconic red dress!
