VIGILS in Broadway VIGILS
The Frontier
6/15-6/27/2018
The Neighborhood presents Vigils by Noah Haidle. Vigils is the story of a Widow living with the Body and Soul of her husband who died in a fire. The Widow trapped the Soul on its way to heaven and put it in a box at the foot of her bed. For two years, the Widow and both parts of her dead husband rolled around in piles of sweaters, relived old memories, and played Marco Polo, but today, today is different. The Widow is going on a date for the first time since her husband's death. The Neighborhood explores this play, which travels quickly through memory and time, using simple and essential storytelling devices: a bed sheet, a picture frame, and some paper flowers. Location: The Frontier, 1106 W Thorndale Ave. in Chicago Dates: June 15, 16, 19 - 23, 25 - 27 at 8pm Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at www.theneighborhoodtheatrechicago.com or at the door.

Tiresias Was a Weatherman in Broadway TIRESIAS WAS A WEATHERMAN
Organic Theater Company
5/31-7/6/2018
TIRESIAS WAS A WEATHERMAN is a world premiere comedy about serious stuff. In this kinda-sorta adaptation of Sophocles' classic ANTIGONE, playwright Jaime Mire imagines a world, parallel to our own, where human emotions have a direct connection to the weather. These events occasionally result in immediate and disastrous meteorological events. In a time when not taking your medication can lead to weather disaster (or can it?), would you consider implanting a microchip into your brain to help control these threatening emotions for public safety purposes? How far are we willing to go to stay dry? Grab your umbrellas for this off-beat and touching comedy about family, mental health, and the weather.

In five eloquently interwoven and often funny monologues, Patrick Cash invites you to explore these emotions of living with a virus that attacks the emotions as well as the body.

Fuddy Meers in Broadway FUDDY MEERS
Eclectic Full Contact Theatre
6/9-7/8/2018
Claire has a rare form of psychogenic amnesia that erases her memory whenever she goes to sleep. This morning, like all mornings, she wakes up a blank slate. But today turns out different. She's kidnapped by a limping, lisping, half-blind, half-deaf man in a ski mask who claims he's there to save her, and he spirits her off to her mother's house. Every twist and turn in this funhouse plot bring Claire closer to revealing her past life and everything she thought she'd forgotten. It's one harrowing and hilarious turn after another on this roller coaster ride through the day of an amnesiac trying to decipher her fractured life. This poignant and brutal comedy traces one woman's attempt to regain her memory while surrounded by a curio-cabinet of alarmingly bizarre characters.

THE GREEN BAY TREE
Pride Films and Plays
6/11-7/8/2018
A charming young man is forced to choose between the love of his fiancée, the lifestyle of his male mentor, and the prescription of his upbringing. This is the infamous comedy of manipulation that, in 1933, made a leading Broadway star of Laurence Olivier, opposite his then-wife Jill Esmond. THE GREEN BAY TREE (1933) was a scandalous hit in the West End and on Broadway. A torrid British drama of homosexual lust that premiered in London in 1933, starring Laurence Olivier. Through clever use of unspoken implications, THE GREEN BAY TREE avoided censorship from the Lord Chamberlain's office in an era when any depiction of gay love was banned from public performance.

A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC
BoHo Theatre
5/19-7/8/2018
Desiree is involved with the buffoonish Count Carl-Magnus Malcolm, husband of the cynical and wryly comedic Countess Charlotte Malcolm. But when Desiree spots her old flame Fredrik in the audience of her most recent production, her interest in him is immediately rekindled. Fredrik, however, has recently married the virginal 18-year old Anne, with whom Fredrik's son, the melancholy academic Henrik, has fallen in love. All parties meet for a "Weekend in the Country" at Desiree's mother, Madame Armfeldt's, estate, where the tangled web of romantic involvements continues to surprise us with its twists and turns. Featuring the classic, Grammy Award-winning song "Send in the Clowns" and a beautiful, lush score, A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC is a story of love, nostalgia, regret, and the magic of music on a summer's night.
