Starting February 13, at the Mary Godfrey Playhouse, we will present “On Golden Pond.” Written for the stage by Ernest Thompson, this show opened on Broadway in 1979. It received the Tony award for best actress in a play, and also received five Drama Desk awards, including best new play. Thompson adapted the play for the silver screen in 1981, and it starred Henry Fonda, Katherine Hepburn and Jane Fonda. The play concerns the elderly couple Ethel and Norman Thayer as they are visited at their summer home by their daughter Chelsea, her fiancée and his son. Thompson explores the often turbulent relationship between the father and daughter and the difficulties often faced by couples in the twilight years of a long marriage. Directed by Jim Rolf, who brought you “Barefoot in The Park” last season, this show will play February 13 through March 1 at the Mary Godfrey Playhouse.
