With book by Larry L. King and Peter Masterson, and music and lyrics by Carol Hall, we are happy to start our 85th season with the much anticipated musical: “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.” This musical is loosely based on true events that took place in the little town of LaGrange, Texas and their local house of ill repute: The Chicken Ranch. It opened on Broadway in 1978 and ran for 1584 performances and was nominated for 7 Tony awards and won 2. It was nominated for nine Drama Desk awards and won three. A little bit racy, and a whole lot of fun, this show will be directed by Brenda Lyttle, who gave us “Rent” just two short years ago, and now insists that everyone call her “Miss Brenda.” The “Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” will run September 26th through October 12th at the Mary Godfrey Playhouse. Ya’ll come, ya hear?
