VIDEO: Elton John: 'We Should Celebrate' Gay Marriage Laws

In Part 2 of the Today show's exclusive interview with legendary musician Elton John, the singer shared that he would like to celebrate the progress of gay marriage laws in his native Great Britain. Watch the interview below!

"I'm very proud of Britain and the laws that we've seen come into existence since we've been together," John said. "So for this legislation [in England] to come through is joyous, and we should celebrate it. We shouldn't just say, 'Oh, well, we have a civil partnership. We're not going to bother to get married.' We will get married."

Queen Elizabeth formally approved gay marriage in Britain in July, allowing gay couples to marry in civil and religious ceremonies in England and Wales. For couples like John and Furnish who already have a civil partnership, they will be able to convert that to a marriage.

John told Today's Matt Lauer that he never imagined the wonderful turn of events his life has taken in recent years, joking, "If you'd looked at my life five years ago and you'd have told me this was going to happen, I'd have said, 'You've put acid in my drink.'"
