VIDEO: New Web Comedy Series WALLFLOWERS - Episode 1

WALLFLOWERS, a narrative comedy web series by filmmaker Kieran Turner (director of acclaimed doc Jobriath A.D), world premieres this week with the first of five weekly episodes on Blip TV. Set in the cruelly comedic dating world of modern NYC, WALLFLOWERS details the disastrous romantic exploits of a tight knit group of Gen-X stragglers coping with the ecstasy and the agony of single life - as members of a Manhattan support group for the hopelessly single. WALLFLOWERS stars a talented cast of NYC based theatre and film actors, including Chad Kimball (Tony Nominated for best Performance in Broadway's Memphis), Sarah Saltzberg (creator /star of Broadway's hit musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), Gideon Glick (Broadway's Spring Awakening & Spider Man: Turn Off The Dark), Gibson Frazier (Man of the Century), Angela Lin (Law and Order: SVU, The Big C, Broadway's Chinglish), Christianne Tisdale (30 Rock, Law and Order) and Marcia DeBonis (That's What She Said, The Truman Show, Whatever Works).

The series was created, written and directed by Kieran Turner (2012 doc film festival hit Jobriath A.D). Series was produced by Nicholas Brennan, and Executive Produced by Kieran and Michael Canzoniero (Wedding Bros starring Tony Winner Dan Fogler, Jon Polito and Brendan Sexton III, upcoming comedy "Don Peyote" starring Dan Fogler and Wallace Shawn.) Series was produced by LA based Eight Track Tape Productions and NYC boutique company Studio 13.

'I was lucky to work with an extremely talented group of theatre actors to tell this story of 30-something's struggling romantically in NYC. This was the final generation of single men and women to come of age before the internet completely took over every single facet of life - when you actually had to put yourself out there, face-to-face, in order to make a personal, emotional, and romantic connection. I'm hoping our series seems true to life to viewers and gives us the chance to both laugh at ourselves, and hopefully feel better about that leaky vessel many of us are currently sailing into middle age,' said Turner.

After the world premiere episode on Wed., April 3rd on Blip TV, four additional episodes will run weekly every Wednesday after that. Five additional episodes to air later in 2013.

Eight Track Tape Productions is a Los Angeles based Production Company founded in 2009 by producer/director Kieran Turner. The company's goal is to produce LGBT themed entertainment which offers unparalleled and progressive insight into the queer experience. Eight Track Tape's first production was the feature documentary, "Jobriath A.D.," about '70s glam rock musician Jobriath, the first openly gay rock star. The film is slated for theatrical release this fall by Factory 25. In addition to continuing production on "Wallflowers," the company is developing a second web series set in the 1980s called "Synchronicity," as well as a stage musical based on the life of Jobriath.

Studio 13, a New York City boutique Production Company, produces features, documentaries and web content under the leadership of Dan Fogler, Thomas Sullivan and Mike Canzoniero. The company has produced the forthcoming feature films, "Don Peyote," starring Dan Fogler and Wallace Shawn, "Hysterical Psycho," starring Noah Bean and Sarah Saltzberg, and "Cagney Cried," starring Steven Randazzo. Original web series include "M'larkey," starring Dan Fogler and Gilbert Gottfried, "Finding Cody," a music web series featuring Cody Simpson, and an upcoming web series for Lorne Michael's "Above Average Network" entitled "The Real Calypso."
