INDEPENDENT LENS announced today that acclaimed actor and filmmaker Stanley Tucci will host the upcoming season of INDEPENDENT LENS which moves to Mondays at 10 PM on PBS this fall (check local listings). Get a first look below!

Tucci is the latest in the distinguished company of "Independent Lens" hosts, including Mary-Louise Parker, America Ferrera, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Susan Sarandon, Terrence Howard, Edie Falco, Angela Bassett, and Don Cheadle.

"Stanley Tucci truly embodies the spirit and essence of 'Independent Lens,'" said Lois Vossen, senior series producer. "Incapable of giving a bad performance, he owns each role, yet continues to surprise audiences with every new character. His acclaimed work as an actor, director, producer, and screenwriter demonstrates how much he understands what it means to be an independent filmmaker. We are deeply honored that he chose to support our series."

Independent Lens premieres with "Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide," which will broadcast nationally as a special presentation on Monday, October 1 and Tuesday, October 2 from 9:00 PM-11:00 PM ET on PBS. The season continues with Brad Lichtenstein's "As Goes Janesville" on Monday, October 8, 2012 followed by Macky Alston's Sundance award-winner "Love Free or Die" on Monday, October 29, 2012.
