Toronto Comedian Danish Anwar to Launch New Comedy Series YOUR HOOD'S A JOKE

Toronto Comedy All Stars founder and performer Danish Anwar joins Toronto based Eggplant Picture and Sound and Timshel Pictures to launch the pilot of new live-to-tape comedy series, "Your Hood's a Joke" - filmed in 360 VR as well as Traditional Broadcast and Digital production style.

Stemming from a live stand-up comedy show that has drawn hundreds of loyal fans and a cult following across Ontario, "Your Hood's a Joke" is a live comedy series profiling well-known comics who battle each other to defend their neighbourhood, city or country.

"Your Hood's a Joke" stand-up show has been making Toronto laugh for over 3 years," comments Anwar. "First created as a stand-up show, each year has brought more comics and larger audiences. Bringing it to broadcast so that larger audiences and comics can participate, is the next logical step."

Known as one of Canada's premiere producer-comedians, Anwar's impactful humor ranges from politics to dating (and everything in between) delivered in a colorful, fearless manner. He's known to give his candid take on everything from elections, weird dating stories or even his love affair with Nutella. Anwar's collaboration with Eggplant Picture and Sound and Timshel Pictures for "Your Hood's a Joke" will profile some of the largest names in comedy as they battle it out to prove their hood is best.

Participating comics in this upcoming pilot filming include (in alphabetical order):

Aaron Berg lives in New York City where he works most of the top Comedy Clubs. He has appeared at the Boston Comedy Festival, the New York Comedy Festival, and performed a nationally televised gala set for the CBC Winnipeg Comedy Festival. His first solo show, The Underbelly Diaries ran off-Broadway at Theatre Row in NYC where it was chosen as "one of three shows you can't afford to miss" in the New York Daily News. Additional recent appearances include Gotham Comedy Live, Seeso TV, Comedy Central, Compound Media, Roastmasters NYC and an upcoming appearance at the New York Comedy Festival.

Pete Johansson is a global headlining comic who splits his time between the UK and Canada. His socially progressive and intellectually challenging comedy has garnered him a worldwide following bolstered recently by his comedy special 'You might as also enjoy...pete johansson' released by Netflix simultaneously in 82 countries. Recently he has taped appearances at WPG Comedy fest for the CBC, and 'This is Not Happening' for Comedy Central in the US and a few episodes of The Debaters.

Tyler Morrison is best known for his hilarious working class comedy. Named one of the Top 10 Comedians of 2014 by Sirius XM Canada, he has also appeared on CBC's shitshow The Debaters, Robert Kelly's You Know What Dude, and The Ron Jeremy Celebrity Roast where he was the breakout star receiving a standing ovation. He also hosted "The Roast of John Wing" at Winnipeg Comedy Festival and performed on The Roast of The Iron Sheik, and Darcy Tucker. His self-produced album Armed and Hammered made it all the way to number one on the iTunes new release charts.

Jean Paul is a Trinidadian-born comedian who has performed in legendary venues such as the Apollo in New York, the Comedy Store in London, and at Place des Arts in Montreal's the Just For Laughs Gala. He has conquered television as a correspondent on Phat TV, a cast of characters in the CBC special Thick and Thin, a regular guest on CBC's Strombo Show and on CTV's A Russell Peters Christmas Special. He also played the popular Fluff E the Hip-Hop Bunny, on the Comedy Network's Buzz Show.

Keith Pedro is a Toronto based comedian who has been featured on CBC Radio's Accents of Toronto and Laugh Out Loud as well as XM/Sirius Satellite radio. On TV, he has been a cast member of MuchMusic/Fuse TV's Video ON Trial. He also had made multiple appearances on certain shows on MTV and Degrassi The Next Generation. From doing sketch comedy with Colin Mochrie to acting on TV shows, this in-your-face stand-up comic with his witty punchlines will leave you with a great ab workout!

Rob Pue is a Toronto based comedian who has appeared on Comedy Central, MTV's Punk'd, had his own Comedy Now special on The Comedy Network, a regular on CBC's Debaters, performed at Just For Laughs, Winnipeg Comedy Festival and the Halifax Comedy Festival. He was also the winner of the prestigious San Francisco Comedy Competition with past winners including Doug Stanhope and Dana Carvey, and runner ups including Louis CK, Robin Williams, Ellen Degeneres and Patton Oswait.

Steph Tolev is a stand up and sketch comedian from Toronto whose unique brand of absurd and personal comedy has made her an audience favorite across North America. Steph has Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal, the Halifax Comedy Festival, Just For Laughs 42, Edinburgh Fringe Fest, Toronto and Vancouver Sketch Fests, as well as North By North East. She's also won the award for Best Female Stand Up at the Canadian Comedy Awards this year and was nominated for her sketch troupe.

Peter White started in Nova Scotia and has gone on to perform comedy all over the world and can be seen in his own one-hour Comedy Now special on CTV and the Comedy Network. He's also participated at the Halifax Comedy Festival, the Winnipeg Comedy Festival and in the A&E movie presentation Bag of Bones, starring Pierce Brosnan. He has appeared at the prestigious Just for Laughs Comedy Festival, and countless times on CBC and XM Radio. He has performed in over 15 countries.

Anwar, who will act as the show host and producer, is no stranger to television, having appeared on the largest broadcast channels in Canada. Anwar is also infamous for his heated twitter feud with former porn star Jenna Jameson about her comments on the refugee crisis where the comedian schooled Jameson on the situation and challenged her views.
