Dark Sisters Park Ridge--Third Eye Theatre Ensemble, a Chicago performance company, which seeks to engage audiences with inspiring performances relevant to today's ever-changing world, will be presenting the Chicago Premiere of composer Nico Muhly's Dark Sisters at Prop Thtr, 3502 N. Elston October 21st-November 6th as the fall portion of its third season.

Founded by Rena Ahmed and Christopher Skyles, both seasoned veterans of Chicago's opera community, Third Eye Theatre Ensemble wishes to captivate audiences through intimate, black box interpretations from often neglected pieces that spur the imagination of the audience to create conversations that last long after the performance. They firmly believe in their tag line: See, Imagine, Converse. Dark Sisters tells the story of Eliza embarking on the perilous journey of escaping the Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints. Leaving the faith also means abandoning her family-including her husband, who believes himself to be a Prophet of God, and her sister wives. She longs to discover herself away from the church, where polygamy is holy and personal identity is forbidden. Can Eliza find herself and sacrifice her connections to her family and her children along the way? Can she reconcile her own revelations with those she was raised to believe are the one true way to salvation?

This story is beautifully told with powerful music by Muhly and a libretto by 2016 Tony Award winning writer of The Humans, Stephen Karam. The cast includes Rena Ahmed, Melissa Arning, Angela Born, Meghan Guse, Kelly Hollis, Brad Jungwirth, Sara Litchfield, Mary Lutz Govertsen, Peter Morgan, and Jessie Oliver. Music direction is by Jason Carlson and staging direction by Rose Freeman. Design staff includes Jimmy Jagos (set), Sarah Collonge (lighting), Delena Bradley (costumes), and Shelby Krarup (stage management). There are multiple performances this fall: October 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 28th, 29th, and 30th; November 4th, 5th, and 6th. Performance times are 8 pm on Fridays and Saturdays and 3 pm Sundays. Tickets are available for $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Anyone interested in additional information is encouraged to contact Third Eye Theatre Ensemble (www.thirdeyete.org).

Third Eye Theatre Ensemble strives to champion operatic works that are seldom performed while advocating social change and providing Chicago's emerging artists with performance opportunities.
