Pipeline Kicks Off 10th Anniversary Season With PIPELINE'S AMAZING RACE; Caileigh Scott Named Managing Director

Pipeline Theatre Company will kick off of its 10th anniversary season with a one-of-a-kind benefit for the company: Pipeline's Amazing Race, taking place Sunday, October 21. Pipeline is also pleased to announce that Caileigh Scott has joined the company in the new role of managing director.

In Pipeline's Amazing Race, teams of two will race through downtown Manhattan and will conquer mental and physical puzzles in order to get points and move from place to place. It's a scavenger hunt with a Pipeline twist. The first pair to pass the finish line and rack up the most points wins two VIP tickets to Hamilton. To participate, teams must sign up online and complete the first challenge by the morning of the race. What's the first challenge? Using a Facebook fundraiser (or by making your own donation) each participant must raise $250 for Pipeline ($500 per team). Race day will culminate in a Season 10 Kick-Off Party, where the winning team will be announced.

"We're known for challenging our artists to stretch the parameters of what's possible and to go as far as they can dream," said Ari Schrier, Pipeline Artistic Director. "In honor of our 10th anniversary, we're bringing that challenge to our whole community. Our audience and supporters will compete alongside teams of Pipeline artists, staff, and ensemble."

Pipeline's Amazing Race participants include: Tony LePage (Come From Away, Rock of Ages), Justin Sargent (Spider-Man, Rock of Ages), Seth Clayton (Pipeline's Folk Wandering), Pipeline founding ensemble members Jenny Donheiser and Arielle Siegel, Pipeline's Artistic Director Ari Schrier, and Pipeline's new Managing Director Caileigh Scott.

The Game Masters behind the design of the race are Pipeline's Associate Artistic Director and director Tom Costello (Smoke), Pipeline founding member, actor, and comedian Nicole Spiezio (Netflix's "The Characters"), Pipeline's Director of Production Kristy Bodall, and friend of the company and actor Sam Garber (The Mysteries).

Next up for Pipeline Theatre Company is the world premiere of jazz concert-party-play hybrid PLAYING HOT, created by Kevin Armento (Balls) and Jaki Bradley (Good Men Wanted). PLAYING HOT is written by Armento, will be directed by Bradley, will feature music direction by Marcus Miller, and will premiere in early 2019 as part of Pipeline's 10th Anniversary Season.

Set within a brassy dance hall, PLAYING HOT deconstructs the incredible story of the birth of jazz in New Orleans. Retracing the rise and fall of Buddy Bolden, the little-known trumpeter who pioneered the radical sound that would become America's Art Form, the show is neither biography nor period piece, neither play nor musical, but an explosive and innovative theatrical event in the style of jazz. Fueled by a live brass band, Buddy's legend and infectious songs are conjured to life, riffing on history and pop culture the same way his music riffed on the notes.

Pipeline Theatre Company, which will celebrate its 10th Anniversary season in 2019, began developing PLAYING HOT with Armento and Bradley in 2015 as part of their Big Mystery Show program. PLAYING HOT is the first time Pipeline Theatre Company is presenting a work they have overseen from commission to full mainstage production. After months of development and rehearsals, it was presented for one night only in June 2016 at the Gym at Judson as part of the Big Mystery Show program, and then received a workshop presentation in May 2017. PLAYING HOT was also developed in consultation with James Williams and the New Orleans Swamp Donkeys.

Caileigh Scott (Managing Director). Prior to Pipeline, Caileigh worked in non-profit event fundraising and in political fundraising for women candidates. During her time living in Los Angeles, she co-founded a non-profit organization that connected high profile members of the entertainment community with underfunded micro-charities on the local, national, and global level. The organization teamed up with artists like Gillian Anderson ("The X-Files"), Constance Marie ("Switched at Birth"), Vince Gilligan ("Breaking Bad"), Joshua Malina ("The West Wing"), and more. As an actor Caileigh has appeared on stage and screen in New York, Los Angeles, regionally, and internationally. Some of her favorite roles include Helena in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Masha in Three Sisters, and the Stepdaughter in Six Characters in Search of an Author. She is also a writer and co-founder of the women-driven sketch group Girlcrush Comedy. Caileigh earned her BFA in Acting from AMDA and is a member of SAG-AFTRA, AEA, and Equity UK.
