Luther Burbank Center for the Arts Sets 2016-17 Clover Stornetta Family Fun Series

Today, Luther Burbank Center for the Arts (The Center) announced the 2016-2017 Clover Stornetta Family Fun Series, featuring six shows for young audiences and families. The Center continues its commitment to including dynamic family entertainment as a key part of its programming with a new lineup of educational and interactive performances in Santa Rosa. Fall through spring, the series will delight audiences of all ages with shows sure to astound, entertain, enlighten and engage featuring critically-acclaimed educational live shows, astounding performers (and dogs!), and insightful stories that come to life on stage.

Ticket holders for the series will also have access to Free Fun with Art, featuring art projects specially designed to complement every show, starting one hour before each performance. Audiences are also invited to stay after each show for an autograph session with the cast (after all shows except The Peking Acrobats).

The Clover Stornetta Family Fun Series kicks-off on Friday, October 14, 2016, with the performance of ERTH's Dinosaur Zoo Live! Audiences of all ages will observe, meet and interact with an eye-popping collection of amazingly life-like dinosaurs and other creatures presented in a theatrical performance that will thrill and entertain kids while stimulating their imaginations in ways that will forever connect them to their world. Brought to life by a team of skilled performers and puppeteers, and designed with the help of professional paleontologists, ERTH's Dinosaur Zoo Live's puppets are extraordinarily realistic providing a unique, entertaining and educational live show created by Erth Visual & Physical of Sydney.

Back by popular demand are the cast of performers and dogs in the Chris Perondi's Stunt Dog Experience on Tuesday, November 15, 2016. During Stunt Dog Experience audiences will witness some of the most incredible stunts and behaviors ever performed by dogs - amazing tricks, big air stunts, comedy antics, dancing dogs, athletic feats, and more. Every show includes interactive crowd participation, and includes "showdowns" that will be judged and won by audience applause. From world-class Frisbee catching dogs, the Stunt Dog triathlon, weave pole challenges, to the famous high-jumping phenomenon, audiences of all ages will witness the most athletic and talented dogs in the world.

Direct from China in a show that Dance Insider calls "... surreal, defying laws of body mechanics and physics", The Peking Acrobats bring their spellbinding show to Santa Rosa on Tuesday, January 17, 2017. The largest and most acclaimed group of its kind, The Peking Acrobats have, for more than 51 years, held audiences spellbound with vibrant presentations of their ancient folk art. Carefully selected from the finest acrobat schools in China, these expert gymnasts, jugglers, cyclists, and tumblers transform 2,000-year-old athletic disciplines into a family-friendly kaleidoscope of eye-popping wonder.

On Wednesday, February 8, 2017, The Center will present Mufaro's Beautiful Daughters in a production by Dallas Children's Theatre. Told with authentic African drumming, colorful staging and powerful choreography, Mufaro's Beautiful Daughters unmasks the true meaning of beauty and celebrates the mystery and splendor of the African continent. When a great African king desires a wife, only the most perfect maidens in the land are invited to meet him. Mufaro's pride and joy, his two daughters of very different dispositions, travel a half-day's journey through a mystical jungle to be presented to the king. Along the way, the two girls encounter a number of extraordinary situations designed to test their kindness, compassion and strength of spirit.

A Year with Frog and Toad brings Arnold Lobel's beloved books to life on stage on Sunday, April 9, 2017. This whimsical performance, created by Ft. Worth's historic Casa Mañana Theatre, follows two great friends - the cheerful, popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toad - through four, fun-filled seasons. Waking from hibernation in the Spring, Frog and Toad plant gardens, swim, rake leaves, go sledding, and learn life lessons along the way. The two best friends celebrate and rejoice in their differences that make them unique and special. A Year with Frog and Toad tells the story of a friendship that endures, weathering all seasons.

The season concludes with Junie B.'s Essential Survival Guide to School on Thursday, May 4, 2017. This musical, based on the popular book by Barbara Park and created by Theatreworks USA, follows Junie B. Jones, who has been going to school for over one-and-a-half years, and decides to share her "expertise" on everything young people need to know about - from bus rules and band-aids to carpools and cookies. Needless to say, Junie B. and her friends deliver the definitive word on surviving and thriving school in style. With tons of tips, tricks and trip-ups, Junie B. shares her hard-won experiences and insights showing young audiences how school is sometimes scary, sometimes super-fun and always something to sing about.

4-show and 6-show season ticket packages to the 2016-2017 Clover Stornetta Family Fun Series are now available. Season ticket packages range from $46.50 - $60 for children and $64.80 - $85 for adults.
