John Cullum to Debut First Ever One Man Show at Feinsteins/54 Below

Broadway's Golden Age of Theatre comes alive next month when New York's Feinstein's/54 Below presents legendary two-time Tony Award winning actor John Cullum in his first ever one man show, John Cullum: An Accidental Star. Performances will be Sept. 2 nd and Sept. 4th through 7th, at the 254 W. 54th St. supper club, each night at 7.

In the show, the 89-year-old Cullum performs songs from his remarkable Broadway career which spans 56 years and includes such great hits as On the Twentieth Century, Shenandoah, Camelot, The Scottsboro Boys and Urinetown The Musical. In addition, he'll share funny, touching and fascinating stories about working with the likes of Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor, Robert Goulet, Hal Prince and Julie Andrews, among others.

A graduate of the University of Tennessee, the Knoxville native moved to New York with "the intention of becoming America's leading Shakespearian actor." Cullum instead became a star of the American musical theater and, along the way, a member of the prestigious Theater Hall of Fame. He also became well-known to millions of TV viewers.

Cullum's introduction to Broadway was in Camelot, in which he played Sir Dinadan and understudied Richard Burton. He earned his first Tony nomination as lead actor in a musical for On a Clear Day You Can See Forever (1966), in which he introduced the title song. Cullum won Tony Awards for Best Lead Actor in both Shenandoah(1975) and On the Twentieth Century(1978). He received Tony nominations for best actor in a musical for Urinetown The Musical(2002) and for best featured actor in a musical in the revival of 110 in the Shade (2007). Cullum's many other stage credits includeMan of La Mancha, Aspects of Love, Waitress, Hal Prince's production of Show Boat and 1776. (He repeated his stage role of Edward Rutledge in the film version of the latter.)

His non-musical credits include Richard Burton's production of Hamlet (broadcast live on NBC) and, on stage, in The Boys of Summer, All My Sons, Old Money, Heroes, Sleuth and August: Osage County.

Cullum is known to television audiences for his roles on Northern Exposure, ER, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Mad Men, The Middle and Madame Secretary, among others. His additional film credits include The Day After, Inherit the Wind, Held Up, All the Way Homeand Hawaii. He recently completed work on the drama, Jungleland.

Musical Director Georgia Stitt is an award-winning composer, lyricist, music producer, pianist and activist. Her many credits include being the music director of the Off-Broadway revival of Sweet Charity (starring Sutton Foster), music supervisor of the Anna Kendrick/Jeremy Jordan film, The Last Five Years, and playing a nun in The Sound of Music Live! On NBC with Carrie Underwood and Audra McDonald.

Director and co-writer David Thompson's credits include Chicago,The Scottsboro Boys, Steel Pier,Prince of Broadway, Thou Shalt Not, The Beast in the Jungle, And the World Goes 'Round and Flora, the Red Menace. Thompson's other credits include Rags at the Goodspeed Opera House; A Christmas Carol, at Princeton's McCarter Theater and the James Taylor Perspective Series at Carnegie Hall. His television work includes Sondheim - A Celebration at Carnegie Hall for which he won an Emmy nomination and Harold Prince - the Director's Life for Great Performances.

The show's lighting designer is Ken Billington. His many designs include the original production of Sweeney Todd, the current production of Chicago and the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Show as well as 100 opera productions.

Jeff Berger is the show's producer. A theatre, film and TV talent manager, Berger has represented Cullum for almost 30 years. He produced Paradise Found which was co-directed by Hal Prince and Susan Stroman at London's Menier Chocolate Factory.
