This week, word got out that Buffy the Vampire Slayer will receive new life in Fall 2018 as a brand spanking new book series. Coming on the heels of the show's 20th Anniversary on March 10th, fans were whipped up into an even bigger frenzy and social media spontaneously combusted.

The series will be penned by Kiersten White, who has written several YA novels including the Paranormalcy Trilogy, the Mind Games Duology, and The Conquerer's Saga, as well as a couple of stand-alone novels, THE CHAOS OF STARS and ILLUSIONS OF FATE.

SLAYER is the first in a new series, which will debut next fall, and center around a BRAND NEW SLAYER. ****Spoilers if you haven't yet watched the final season of Buffy--the new Slayer will come from Willow's kick-ass group of Potentials!*******

White's latest series, The Conqueror's Saga, begins with AND I DARKEN, which debuted last year and spent nine consecutive weeks on the New York Times Best Sellers List. The sequel, NOW I RISE, is one of this summer's most highly anticipated YA releases. The series has been called "A YA Game of Thrones set in the Ottoman Empire." It reimagines Vlad the Impaler (a real historical figure who inspired stories such as Bram Stoker's DRACULA) as a female named Lada.

AND I DARKEN was vicious and gritty. It wasn't afraid to pull punches. (If you want to see my complete thoughts on the book, check out my review from last year!) Put it next to a book about a teenage vampire slayer and you can see that Simon Pulse chose the right writer for the series. White will do justice to this beloved franchise and bring a new generation into the BuffyVerse!
