Asylum Theater Extends WOMEN Thru 11/14

Combined Artform and Matthew Quinn's WOMEN has added four additional performances: November 1st, 6th, 13th & 14th - 8:00PM. It officially opened September 5th. After a sold-out run in New York City and the Hollywood Fringe Festival, WOMEN, written by Chiara Atik and directed by Stephanie Ward, is returning to Los Angeles for a full run at the Asylum Theater, August 28th through October 25th.

Jo March really thinks she could be the voice of her generation....or at least, a voice, of a generation. This fast paced comedy is a mash-up of Louisa May Alcott's classic, Little Women, and HBO's critically acclaimed "Girls", delivering a smartly crafted and hilarious 55 minute show.

WOMEN originated as a full length piece in New York City at the Kraine Theater January-Feb of 2014 after it garnered attention at #serials, a late night episodic competition at the Flea Theater. It then transferred to The People's Improv Theater, where it was extended. In June WOMEN came to the Hollywood Fringe Festival and took home Top of the Fringe, Best Comedy, the BLIFF Award (The Bitter Lemons Irreverent Fringe Femmes) and The THIRTY90NE Golden Elephant Awards for Golden Production.

WOMEN will have a brand new LA based cast including Lauren Flans (MTV2's Nick Cannon Presents: Wild 'N Out, Lost Moon Radio), Erika Rankin (The Millers, Californication), Chris Farrah (Chelsea Lately), Brigitte Valdez (Coxman: The Webseries, Emo! the Musical), Jacquie Walters (Bite Me, A Murder is Announced), Ben Moroski (The Wake, The Vicious Minute), Joseph Patrick O'Malley (Blood Ties, Gift of Nothing), Jackie Preciado (Me and My Ballon, A-Okay), and Anna Jaller (Upcoming Entourage FIlm, MTV's Failosophy)

The New York production of WOMEN will remount at The People's Improv Theatre on October 4th and run concurrently on both coasts.

CHIARA ATIK'S writing has been featured in Glamour Magazine, The Atlantic, The Today Show (Today.com), The Hairpin, NYMag.com, and Elle.com. Plays include The Secret Catcher (Ensemble Studio Theater), What a Pill (IAMAFEST, LA), WOMEN (Serials @ The Flea). She is a three time recipient of a Sloan grant (EST Science brunch, 2012-2014) and a member of Ensemble Studio Theater's Youngblood. TV Credits includestaff writer for MTV's talking-head/sketch show, "Hey Girl!" and a pilot in development with Fox. Other writing credits include "Paris is Lovely/Lonely When You're Alone" (Amazon Kindle, Paperback 2014 ) and "Modern Dating: A Field Guide," (Harlequin, 2013). She served as interim Senior Editor at Cosmopolitan Magazine this winter.

STEPHANIE WARD (Director) is a Manhattan based director and co-founder of Beth Dies, Inc. Recent credits include: WOMEN by Chiara Atik (NY Times Critic's Pick/Top of the Fringe Award), The Least (The Atlantic Acting School), Lather, Rinse, Repeat by Michael Waleck (Ensemble Studio Theatre), Tuny and Biscuit by Abby Rosebrock (The Flea), and Fallsway by Dan Moyer (The Shelby Company). She has developed work at The Atlantic Acting Co, The Flea, Ensemble Studio Theatre, Distilled Theatre, INTAR, UglyRhino, and Pipeline Theatre, among others. Assistant directing credits include: The Oldest Boy by Sarah Ruhl, dir. Rebecca Taichman (upcoming world premiere, Lincoln Center), Time and the Conways (The Old Globe), A Sunrise in Times Square by Sharr White, dir. Claudia Weill (EST), Vengeance by Paula Vogel and Rebecca Taichman (OSF/Yale Rep), Marie Antoinette by David Adjmi, dir. Rebecca Tacihman (ART/Yale Rep), Everything You Touch by Sheila Callaghan. Ward got her start as an Agent Trainee at William Morris Endeavor Entertainment, where she started in the Books to Film Department in Los Angeles, and she is a current member the 2014 Lincoln Center Director's Lab.

COMBINED ARTFORM/MATTHEW QUINN (Producer) has been involved in theatre production/venue management for over 20 years in San Francisco and Los Angeles, where he owns and operates Theatre Asylum- Elephant Space. He created Combined Artform in 1998 to produce full and co-productions, explore multi-media, including live online internet programming and be an active member in the performance community. Stand out productions include Santaland Diaries, now in its 12th year at the Eureka Theatre (SF) , Blink & You Might Miss Me, Jane Austen Unscripted (w/ImproTheatre), A Tuna Christmas, Pulp Shakespeare, How to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse- US Version and Tilted Frame. He's on the advisory board and active supporter of the Hollywood Fringe Festival and on the NYU West Coast Gallatin Alumni Board. In 2010 he started the Asylum's Best of the Fringe (Encore Awards) and from it has co-produced extensions of Pulp Shakespeare, Pokemusical and Sunny Afternoon.

WOMEN previews August 28, 29 and September 4 at 8pm and opens Friday, September 5 running through October 25 at 8pm. The schedule is three shows per weekend, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm.
