A PLAY ABOUT A PLANE CRASH Comes to Delaware Before Flying To New York

The Delaware Theatre Company and 59E59 Theaters announce the east coast premiere of the play, ONE NOVEMBER YANKEE, written and directed by Josh Ravetch and starring two-time Emmy and five-time Golden Globe nominee, Stefanie Powers and four-time Golden Globe nominee, Harry Hamlin.

One November Yankee has a bright yellow, full sized single engine Piper Cub airplane crashed dramatically center-stage. One plane, two actors, and three intricately interwoven stories. Josh Ravetch's new play explores human connections brought on by tragedy in the aftermath of a plane crash that ripples unexpectedly across the lives of three sets of siblings (all played by Hamlin and Powers). The play premiered at Los Angeles' award winning, NoHo Arts Center Theatre before moving to Wilmington for it's East Coast Premiere which will be, October 23rd2019. The play will then "fly" on to New York's critically acclaimed 59E59 Theatres. The Los Angeles Times calls One November Yankee a "haunting and poetic" flight that, "unfolds like theatrical origami."

Josh Ravetch is a Writer/Director and a graduate of the Stella Adler Conservatory in Manhattan, where he took over Ms. Adler's signature script-interpretation classes before assuming the post as artistic director at the Stella Adler Conservatory West.

Ravetch's play, "The Astronomer" was performed at The Pasadena Playhouse with Academy Award winner, Shirley Jones in the title role of "The Astronomer." The play came on the heels of the project Ravetch recently co-wrote, "Step in Time - a Musical Memoir" with stage and screen icon, Dick Van Dyke. He directed the world premiere production of the play at The Geffen Playhouse with Van Dyke starring. The play opened in December 2010.

In 2007, Ravetch collaborated with actress/writer Carrie Fisher and directed her in the world premiere smash hit, "Wishful Drinking," Ms. Fisher's one-woman-show at Los Angeles' Geffen Playhouse in the 2006/2007 season. That play enjoyed an extended run on Broadway at Studio 54 and was filmed by HBO and adapted into an HBO special.

Also at The Geffen Playhouse, Ravetch wrote and directed a workshop production of his play, "Writer's Cramp" with Academy Award nominated Robert Forster, Emmy winner Holland Taylor and Tony nominated Douglas Sills. His other directorial credits include Clifford Odets', The Big Knife, Thomas Babe's, Prayer For My Daughter, John Patrick's, Hasty Heart and Ira Levin's, Deathtrap which garnered five Drama Logue Awards including awards for Director and Production.

Last year, Ravetch brought "Go Figure, the Randy Gardner Story" to the Delaware Theatre Company. The play starred ice-skating super-star, Randy Gardner with an appearance by his long time skating partner, Tai Babilonia and skating legend, Dorothy Hamill. The play told us the behind-the-scenes story of ice-skating during the Cold War with considerable humor and genuine drama -- and told by those who were actually there.

In 2017, Ravetch's play with music, "Chasing Mem'ries" starred Tony Award winner, Tyne Daly and Academy nominated, Robert Forster. It was the recipient of the Edgerton New Play Award and world premiered at The Geffen Playhouse. Legendary songwriters, Alan and Marilyn Bergman wrote the lyrics with music by Marvin Hamlisch and Michel Legrand. Ravetch's playwriting credits also include the award winning play, "Girders"which launched the 1996 season at Los Angeles' Coast Playhouse starring Academy Award Nominee Robert Forster. Forster also starred in his play, Off Sides with Olympia Dukakis and the play, Beacon with Brooke Shields.
