Photo Flash: Loretta Swit Joins NATAS in Support of Future Generations

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Foundation (NATAS) is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit arm of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, the organization best known for awarding Emmys for broadcast excellence.

The future of television is being passed on to those who will one day become the leaders of innovation and programming for our industry in the 21st century. With a goal of acknowledging this new media savvy generation, whose work is proving to be more extraordinary each year, the NATAS Foundation awards scholarships for students interested in careers in digital and broadcast media.

"These scholarships are crutial to funding the future of these remarkable individuals, and essential foundations to their success as leaders in the arts," remarked Loretta Swit.

The Foundation held a fund raising event to raise money for those scholarships on Tuesday, November 14th at the fabulous penthouse apartment in New York City was hosted by Carnegie pianist, composer author and playwright, Georgia Shreve.

"Events like these bridge generations of excellence, celebrating past and present leaders of our industry while supporting and preparing the leaders of tomorrow," says Adam Sharp (Chairman of Scholarship Committee). Adding, "By investing in these great talents of the future. The NATAS scholarships reaffirm the standard of creative achievement reflected in the Emmy® Award, ensuring its endurance through especially changing times."

Those in attendance included stage and screen icon Loretta Swit, WPIX Correspondent Marvin Scott, former NJN anchor Kent Manahan, entertainment reporter for WABC Sandy Kenyon, Senior Political Correspondent NJTV News Michael Aron and NYU student Matt Foundoulis, who was awarded the 2015 Trustees Scholarship. Some past scholarship winners have often been the first in their family to attend college and who would not have been able to attend college at all, if it wasn't for the scholarships.

"The expertise and proficiency of the skills these talented students possess amaze all of us here at NATAS, and offers encouragement with regard to the future of the television industry," said, NATAS Chairman, Chuck Dages.

Event organizer, Janice Selinger introduced the host Georgia Shreve who had so graciously opened her her home for the event and spoke about Shreve's May concerts at Carnegie Hall and how she composed the music to accompany two films. NATAS Chairman, Chuck Dages welcomed the crowd., introducing the Scholarship Chair, Adam Sharp, who spoke of how memorable Foundoulis' video had been and Foundoulis relayed how the impact of these scholarships have on students lives and careers.
