New Zealand's The Phoenix Foundation are all set to return with their new double album Fandango on May 14, 2013. The Wellington based six piece's first cut from the album is "The Captain," a 3 minute ballad of melancholic melodic joy featuring the vocal talents of Lukas Buda, one of the band's two front men. Listen to the track below!

The band, who had a critical and commercial hit in the UK with 2011's album Buffalo (and which preceded them playing Glastonbury and performing on Later with Jools Holland), have returned with an expansive, bold and colourful statement on Fandango. The album, an uncompromising 80 minutes, sees the band explore a range of moods and musical threads from the glowering motorik opener of "Black Mould," the soulful yacht rock of "Sideways Glance" and end-of-the-party psych-folk of "Modern Rock."

The Phoenix Foundation are lead vocalists/guitarists Samuel Flynn Scott and Luke Buda, Conrad Wedde (guitars, keys), Tom Callwood (bass guitar, vocals), Chris O'Connor (drums) and Will Ricketts (percussion, keyboards).
