FIDLAR

BIO:
IDLAR are slackers at heart. The only thing they really care about is skateboarding; trivial things like doing their homework and making the grade in school have little meaning to them. But when their adopted Vietnamese brother turns up dead after discovering an error in the shipping records at his place of work, FIDLAR begins to suspect something more. Refusing to accept the police's theory of suicide, FIDLAR launches their own investigation, determined to uncover the truth of what really happened to their brother. They will be playing SXSW 2012. Hailing from L.A., FIDLAR - made up of Brandon, Max, Zac, and Elvis - started playing together in 2009 and after a year of leaking their demos with 'found footage' music videos that glorified teenage breasts, shaking asses, smoking meth, shooting guns and the entire opening credits of Top Secret - FIDLAR released their first 7" EP, DIYDUI through White Iris. Following the success of DIYDUI and the band’s beer-soaked marathon schedule at CMJ 2011, FIDLAR will release the “No Waves/No Ass” 7” on Mom+Pop March 13th. They have toured with Jeff The Brotherhood, The Hives, and Delta Spirit. "FIDLAR channel elements of classic acts like the White Stripes and Pixies, while practically begging for a co-headlining tour with contemporaries like Bass Drum of Death and JEFF the Brotherhood (the latter of whom we recently caught when they stopped by Death By Audio in Brooklyn). FIDLAR live" - SPIN "The tune can be summed up in a handful of image descriptions; sandboarding, grim reaper, suicidal flip-up hat, skull mask, and shred." - Filter Magazine "We all have a major music crush on FIDLAR here at VICE" - VICE "They remind me of Pixies a lot (an obvious link, given the singer's Frank Black style screeeeeeam), but there's also some really, really nice'n'fuzzy guitars in there that sound like they've been nicked from the blueprint Death In Vegas followed on 'Aiesha'." - NME "Fidlar has an agressive, straightforward, but melodic conception of punk." - LA Times
