ALI SPERRY

Born to two beautiful musician parents and raised on yoga, TM, and music. Wrote my first "official" song at age 7 (precluded by a few years of vocal improvisations) and performed said song at the Golden Domes in Fairfield, IA. These are the lyrics: "It's in the sky, I see it fly It's in the air, everywhere I know that love has come, peace has come, a song has come to everyone. Lighting the light of everyone everywhere It's in the sky. It's in the sky." Music has always been a constant in my life, a fact. I thought for a time that it would be primarily in the form of musical theatre, which I studied at Syracuse University. I took that Acting degree straight to The City after college, where I logged more hours as a tired receptionist than a working actress. When I was pursuing my acting career in Chicago, with the great joy of teaching yoga as my "day-job", I was met with the opportunity to sing on my mom's record in Nashville, TN. The experience of being by her side in the studio, along with my dad and also our long-time friend Mac Gayden, who was producing the project, made me deeply inspired to shift my focus to music. The impetus to make this shift was accelerated by Sweetwater Rose, the girl-group which I delightedly auditioned for, joined, and packed my crap up to drive a U-haul from Chicago straight to rehearsal for our first Nashville show. Now, nearly 3 years later, I'm still in love with the girls of SWR, but ready for this new adventure. Writing the material for this record has been beyond therapeutic. The past couple years have been a time of significant transformation in my life, and nothing could be more satisfying than taking those highs, lows, and all in between and weaving them into pieces of audible art. Through these transformations, I have also had the good grace to cross paths with some remarkable souls in this town. By the nature of this musical community, I have met truly some of the most dear people to me in my life, several of whom worked long hours and late nights on this project. I am so grateful and humbled by the talented people who contributed their brilliant creativity and spirit to make these songs into something that I never could have imagined on my own. I am indebted to you and very proud to call you friends and peers.
