MetroJam hosted by Jenna Esposito, is the monthly open mic at the Metropolitan Room. Each month boasts a different guest star, a terrific lineup of performers and the fabulous MetroJam House Band: John DiPinto on piano, Ritt Henn on bass, and Bobby Sher on drums. Singers and instrumentalists of all types are encouraged to join in the fun - just bring two copies of your music (up-tempo songs are preferred) and arrive early to sign up (sign-up begins at 9:30 p.m.)

Nationally - touring jazz vocalist and pianist Tish Oney brings her new show, "Jazz Seasons," to The Metropolitan Room. Tish brings together a program of songs celebrating the four seasons of the year and delivers them in the straight-ahead, classic jazz tradition. Selections include original works as well as treasures by the most beloved writers of the Great American Songbook, contemporary jazz and music theatre. Oney's latest CD, "Dear Peg," earned international recognition in WHLI Radio's Top 50 Releases of 2009.

Annie Ross performs every Tuesday at 9:30 PM. Annie Ross has been an abundant contributor to the art of jazz for over 50 years. Born in the UK, she has been a permanent resident of the USA for many years and a US citizen since 2001. She is one of the pioneers of vocalese and the composer of "Twisted", one of the most well known examples of that art, as well as "Farmers Market", 'Jackie" and many others. A founding member of Lambert, Hendricks and Ross, considered the greatest jazz vocal ensemble of all time, her influence is present in all subsequent practitioners of vocalese. "Twisted" has been recorded by a host of vocalists, including some not normally associated with jazz, including Joni Mitchell and Bette Midler.

Jack Phillips will celebrate the release of his newest album 'To Whom It May Concern' with two special performances at The Metropolitan Room, on Friday, September 10th at 9:45 pm and Sunday, September 12th at 7 pm. An opening night party will immediately follow the Friday night performance. All audience members will receive a free copy of the new CD. This release marks the highly anticipated follow-up to his acclaimed debut album, Revival Time (four stars in the All Music Guide). 'To Whom It May Concern' is a more mature effort, reflecting a wisdom and style that comes with the passing of time. While his music is decidedly eclectic on the new album, Phillips' pop & rock sensibilities remain firmly in the foreground. The critics are already raving about the recording well before its official release. The album's first single "Winter Keeps Us Warm" was recently named the top pick for Iman Labadebi's column My Fave Tracks at rock nyc, beating out such notables as Scissor Sisters and Kanye West. Jack has enlisted two multiple award-winners to bring this event to life on stage: Miles Phillips will direct this project and Jason Wynn will serve as music director for a collection of some of New York's finest musicians.

John DiPinto and Mary Foster Conklin have appeared onstage together in various guises through the years. Last year they began to experiment with vocal duets, firstin the clubs and later during the summer on a fire escape above Highline Park with the infamous Renegade Cabaret. They are proud to bring an evening of duets (more or less) to the Metropolitan Room, with Tony Romano on guitar and Skip Ward on bass.John will play accordian, when the mood strikes him, for some cool arrangements ofthe Beatles, the Foo Fighters, Alec Wilder & Fran Landesman, the Bobs, Smokey Robinson and more.
