Lenore Skomal's new play The Exes takes the stage today, December 8, for a special industry reading prior to its Off Broadway run in spring of 2018.

Self-made billionaire Richard and his best friend Dick were both married to the same woman: strong willed Mavis. When she drops in uninvited on Christmas Eve--the day of Richard's daughter's wedding--all hell breaks loose. Reminiscent of The Philadelphia Story, this bromantic comedy of love and breakups is alternately irreverent, ridiculous and tender-reminding audiences why marriage and divorce make for strange bedfellows.

The staged reading features Beau Allen, veteran of Broadway [Jesus Christ Superstar, Two Gentlemen of Verona, Best Little Whorehouse in Texas] and film [recently released Daddy's Home 2], as well as award-winning actor Sal Rendino, known for his recurring roles in The Get Down, Billions, Law and Order SVU, The Daily Show and Royal Pains and starring opposite John Travolta in Gotti. Cast members include: Cornelia Groeger, Matthew August Jeffers, Neil Smith, John Coleman Taylor, Jennifer Laine Williams and Jo Walker.

"I believe laughter is a close second to love as a healing power. It's a panacea for all that ails this planet, says playwright Lenore Skomal. "Dick Wright, one of my characters, says it best when his ex-wife Mavis says to him, "I see you still think you're funny." "Oh, but I am funny," he counters. "If I weren't, I'd go insane."
