High School Production of ALL SHOOK UP Cancelled Due to 'Offensive' Content

According to the Star, a high school in Utah has cancelled a student production of All Shook Up because of a 'sexually suggestive song.' Rehearsals for the production had already begun but the Herriman High School announced that a different show would be selected due to offensive content.

A Jordan School District spokeswoman revealed that after a complaint about the show was submitted, school administrators 'reviewed the script and determined it didn't meet new standards put in place in August after another high school play came under scrutiny.'

All Shook Up is a 2004 American jukebox musical with Elvis Presley music and with a book by Joe DiPietro. The story is based on William Shakespeare's 1602 play Twelfth Night.

The musical premiered on Broadway at the Palace Theatre on March 2, 2005 and closed on September 25, 2005 after 213 performances and 33 previews. Directed by Christopher Ashley, with choreography by Ken Roberson, the original Broadway cast included Cheyenne Jackson (Chad), Jenn Gambatese (NatAlie Haller/"Ed"), and Jonathan Hadary (Jim Haller).
