'GRAMMYs On The Hill' To Honor Brooks, Durbin, Issa & More At Event 4/14

GRAMMYs on The Hill® honorees include solo artist of the century and two-time GRAMMY® winner Garth Brooks, U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), U.S. Representative Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), and the music program of Neuqua Valley High School (a GRAMMY Foundation® Signature School from Naperville, Illinois). The event will be hosted by Oscar®-winning songwriter Paul Williams with performances by Marc Roberge (lead singer of rock band O.A.R.), the GRAMMY Congressional Band and other special guests. Attendees include President/CEO of The Recording Academy Neil Portnow, Recording Academy Chair of The Board of Trustees George Flanigen, GRAMMY-winning producer Jimmy Jam, musician Sheila E., Recording Arts and Sciences Congressional Caucus (RASCC) members, members of Congress, and dozens of music makers.

GRAMMYs on The Hill Advocacy Day includes welcome remarks by Speaker of The House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, visits with leading legislators and lobbying members of Congress, and an afternoon event with Nashville-based bluegrass group Jypsi.

GRAMMYs on The Hill® - Called "Washington's most interesting mix of music and politics," the two days of music advocacy connects top music makers with members of Congress in Washington, D.C., in an effort to inform policy makers of the important role the recording arts play in the nation's culture and economy, and to raise the profile of the recording arts during meetings with legislators. The Recording Academy's annual advocacy event honors outstanding legislators who work to improve the environment for music makers and artists who use the power of music to improve all our lives. A cocktail buffet will precede the awards ceremony. This advocacy day for music makers features a morning briefing with remarks by Speaker Pelosi, lobbying members of Congress, and an afternoon musical event on Capitol Hill with Arista Nashville artists Jypsi.
