Emily Blunt Says INTO THE WOODS Movie Is 'Absolutely Beautiful'Versatile screen star Emily Blunt discusses her central role in the hotly anticipated big screen adaptation of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's INTO THE WOODS as part of a new interview.

Blunt shares, "Well, I think we've been very, very loyal to the original musical."

Furthermore, Blunt reveals, "But, at the same time, Rob Marshall has been so wise in making it as cinematic as possible and making the transitions from scene to song as seamless as possible. And, it looks absolutely beautiful!"

"The woods are just magical - they are so stunning. We have definitely managed to maintain the sort of darkness that the original has," Blunt posits.

As for her singing, Blunt opines, "I don't know if any of us really feel that we are singers, but every one of us considers themselves actors who can kind of sing. The great thing about Stephen Sondheim's music is that it is an actor's kind of music - you have songs that are almost like monologues. There is a complexity to it - an emotional complexity."

As for sharing a soundstage with Sondheim himself, Blunt adds, "Stephen Sondheim was there... he just wrote me an e-mail yesterday, which is so cool!"
