ONE TREE HILL's Bethany Joy Lenz Writing New Musical

Bethany Joy Lenz (Grey's Anatomy, Dexter, One Tree Hill, American Gothic) has spent the past year writing a musical, with aspirations for Broadway, with plans for the original script to be workshopped in summer of 2018.

Lenz broke the news on The Inadequate Life podcast, adding, "I would not be performing in it, but I would be involved heavily."

Lenz did not release any information about where she'll be developing the project, but earlier this year, she participated as a performer in The Blank Theatre's Young Playwrights Festival.

Speaking on the podcast, Lenz confessed that despite numerous auditions, "I tend to get down to the last four or five girls for really big Broadway projects," adding that she is terrible at auditions.

For example, during her audition for ONCE, the actress, who plays piano, couldn't quite muster the complicated Rachmaninoff piece. "I took a little artistic license with Rachmaninoff," she admitted. This didn't go over well and brought the audition to an abrupt close.

Lenz's new film SNOWED IN CHRISTMAS will premiere on Lifetime this Saturday, December 16, at 8 pm. Lenz plays a buttoned-down journalist who, like her character in "One Tree Hill," is smart and knows who she is - at least until she gets trapped on assignment with a colleague she's competing with to save her job.
