Tony Winner Sophie Okonedo and More Join Cast of HELLBOY

The Daily Mail is reporting that Tony Award winner Sophie Okonedo has just signed on to the upcoming film 'Hellboy'. Joining her are Brian Gleeson and Alistair Petrie.

According to Deadline, Neil Marshall-directs from a script penned by comics creator Mike Mignola, Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden and Aron Coleite. The film will follow "the hero and his ragtag team of paranormal researchers who are trying to save the world from a medieval sorceress who wants to destroy humankind."

Okonedo will portray Lady Hatton, described as "a resident seer at the Osiris Club, an ancient English club dedicated to uncovering supernatural mysteries." Petrie takes on the role of Lord Adam Glaren, while Gleeson will play Merlin, a wizard.

Previously announced cast includes David Harbour as Hellboy, Milla Jovovich as Nimue the Blood Queen, and Ian McShane, Daniel Dae Kim and Penelope Mitchell. A release date has yet to be announced.

Okonedo just wrapped up her run in the West End production of Edward Albee's THE GOAT, OR WHO IS SYLVIA. She most recently appeared on Broadway in the 2016 revival of THE CRUCIBLE, receiving a Tony nomination for her performance. The actress won a Tony Award for her portrayal of 'Ruth Younger' in 2014's A RAISIN IN THE SUN. She received an Oscar nomination for her performance in HOTEL RWANDA and most recently appeared on TV in the BBC's police drama UNDERCOVER.
