Talks about the casting, the creative team shared "We're thrilled to see this new, non-traditional concert version of Ragtime come to Avery Fisher Hall. With its stellar cast of principals, a large ensemble of Ragtime alums from many different productions and its immensely talented choruses, it will be a telling of E. L. Doctorow's classic to remember. We are proud and happy to support the mission of Manhattan Concert Productions."

And Stafford Arima added that "Reuniting with Lynn, Stephen & Terrence on Ragtime brings me an incredible amount of joy. I was fortunate to be part of the musical's birth in Toronto so directing this concert feels a little bit like coming home. I consider Ragtime to be one of the finest musicals ever written. The material soars and transforms, and since its Broadway debut 15 years ago it continues to touch the hearts of its audience with its breathtaking score and arresting story. It is a timeless piece of theater that never stops to make one think. Thanks to Manhattan Concert Productions, New York City will get to "journey on" with Ragtime and relive its magnificence with an exciting and diverse cast of performers in the glorious Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center."

Ragtime's award-winning score will be brought to life in this unique concert performance. Called by Time Magazine, A triumph for the stage, and by the International Herald Tribune, the best musical in twenty years, this acclaimed musical won 1998 Tony Awards for Best Score, Book and Orchestrations, and won both the Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best Musical and Best Score.

Ragtime is an epic tale of three very different families whose lives become intertwined at the turn of the 20th century. The story will unfold across a vibrant and explosive performance by over one hundred singers from around the country, as well as a host of professional members from former Ragtime choruses and the Broadway community, all accompanied by the phenomenal New York City Chamber Orchestra for this one night only performance!

The Tony award-winning score by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty is just as diverse as the melting pot of America itself. It draws upon many musical styles from the ragtime rhythms of Harlem and Tin Pan Alley to the klezmer of the Lower East Side, from bold brass band marches to delicate waltzes, from up-tempo banjo tunes to period parlor songs and expansive anthems.

Featuring such show stopping songs as Getting Ready Rag, Your Daddy's Son, Wheels of a Dream, Till We Reach That Day, Back To Before, and Make Them Hear You. This thrilling musical is sure to inspire actors and audiences alike! This performance marks the 15th anniversary of the original Broadway production of Ragtime.
