Tom Hooper's sweeping adaptation of LES MISERABLES has hit a box office milestone, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film has now grossed over $300 million in worldwide sales, and by weekend's end, should surpass CHICAGO (which grossed $306.8 million) on the list of most successful movie musicals, making it the third most successful musical ever. MAMMA MIA with $609.8 million, and GREASE with $395 million take the top two spots.

In America alone, the film has earned $134.3 million since its Christmas Day release, and $165.7 million internationally. The film is set to open in an additional 31 markets, including Brazil and Italy, within the next two months.

In the UK, the film has continuously broken records, holding onto the top spot at the box office for nearly three weeks, where its cumulative total rests at approximately $34 million.

Additionally, Les Miserables is the top grossing musical of all time in Korea and Hong Kong and had the best opening of a musical in Australia, Spain, Singapore and Trinidad.

Helmed by The King's Speech's Academy Award-winning director, Tom Hooper, the Working Title/Cameron Mackintosh production stars Hugh Jackman, Oscar winner Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, Aaron Tveit, Samantha Barks, with Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen.
