Canton Ceramic Artists Guild Sets Date for 2016 May Show & Ceramic Sale

Canton, Ohio -- The Canton Ceramic Artists Guild, an affiliate group of the Canton Museum of Art, will hold their 25th Annual May Show and Ceramic Sale on Friday, May 6, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm, and Saturday, May 7, from 10:00am to 2:00pm, in the Wilkof Courtyard and lobby at the Canton Museum of Art. Admission to the event is free. The Museum is located in the Cultural Center for the Arts, 1001 Market Avenue North, in downtown Canton.

A wide variety of handcrafted, decorative and functional pottery, clay sculpture and more will be on display and available for purchase. All works are made by members of the Guild, and a portion of the sales proceeds benefit ceramic education programs at the Museum. This year's show coincides with the Canton Museum of Art's major new exhibition, "Art and the Animal" featuring works from leading wildlife artists across the country.

For the 20th year, Guild members will be participating in the "Empty Bowls Against Hunger" program. Guild artists have created and donated unique bowls, which will be sold during the show for a minimum "purchase" donation of $15.00, with all proceeds given to the Stark County Hunger Task Force. In recent years, the Guild has raised more than $1,000.00 annually through the "Empty Bowls" initiative.

The show and sale opens at 4:00pm on May 6, featuring live entertainment by "Rock Salt & Nails," a local band of visual artists, performing original folk and traditional acoustic music. Free refreshments will be served. The Museum galleries will be open, with free admission to all exhibits. Explore the used art book sale in the Museum lobby.

The opening also coincides with "First Friday" -- the Canton Arts District's monthly party featuring themed music, performance and visual arts events.

On Saturday, May 7, the show and sale is open from 10:00am to 2:00pm and will feature ceramic demonstrations all day from Guild members.

RSVPs are accepted on the May Sale Facebook Event:
