In what will be her first movie star role in over a decade, Cher is set to join Christina Aguilera in 'Burlesque', a new screen musical for Screen Gems.
Aguilera will play an ambitious small-town Iowa girl with a big voice who comes of age in a burlesque club on Sunset Boulevard that's run by Tess, played by Cher, a former dancer who struggles to keep the club open and gives the young girl a chance to shine.
Cher will sing onscreen. While her voice has been heard in many films, "Burlesque" will mark the first time she'll be seen singing in a film she stars in. Cher last starred in "Tea With Mussolini" in 1999.
Production begins in November for a July 2010 release.
Don't quote me on it, but I thought she was in that conjoined twin comedy with Matt Damon? May have imagined that though.
I'm pretty excited about it, not going to lie. Those roles seem to be perfect for them and would make an interesting concept for a movie musical (pretty Moulin Rouge meets Coyote Ugly I feel).
I honestly cannot think of two singers I would less want to see (or hear). lol Both of their voices make me want to scream even louder than their screeching.
THEATRE 2020: CURTAINS**** LET'S HEAR IT FOR THE GIRLS***** WICKED***** KEITH RAMSAY TAKING NOTES WITH EDWARD SECKERSON***** KAYLEIGH MCKNIGHT CONCERT***** RAGS***** ON MCQUILLAN'S HILL** DEAR EVAN HANSEN***** THE JURY***
Im not a fan of either of these 2, so you can imagine my excitment
And toanythingtaboo 2 you are right, Cher was last seen in Stuck On You, she also has 2 more in production 'The Dropout'along side Johnny Knoxville and 'The Zookeeper (animated film) along side Sly Stallone and Rosario Dawson
And she hasnt done that many films in a long time as she was doing her Farewell Tour, you know that last one, well the one before she did another one in Vegas....so she kinda lied.....im just saying lol
Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna
I like Christina... i still think she'd be an awesome Glinda when they make the movie of Wicked. Before you shout just think back to candyman video etc.
Jesus Loves You... Everybody else thinks you're an idiot!
Oh, I don't think it'll be that successful, but I'll probably like it.
Cher + Christina fans will go, which will be quite a big bunch of people but the sexiness of it will count out anyone taking kids and older folk (maybe be more appealing for the boyfriends dragged along though). Both of which are needed to be a popular summer film.
It sounds a little predictable. I think we all know how it's going to end. Aguilera's character is going to make it (after a tiff with her boyfriend who she re-unites with the same night she makes it big) and Cher's club with survive with the help of Aguilera's popularity? " £100 if I'm wrong.
Don't get me wrong I will probably see it, and like it, but I don't think I will be surprised by anything.
Whilst walking through Globe theatre:
American woman to guide: "Excuse me, is this building pre-war?"
Guide: "Madam, this building is pre-America."
