I forget, did crowds really "flock" to the show ar 37 Arts?
I know it extended at least once, but I remember it being fairly easy to get tickets to.

How is it an $11 million dollar production?

Fela actually sold out the entire run plus the extension after it opened.

$11? What makes the production so big? He said it had a pretty hefty weekly running cost. How so? Was there a big set or something?
No big set, just some projections. $11 million seems a little high, but it's probably due to the large size of the cast, and the typical costs of running a broadway show these days.

"Picture "The View," with the wisecracking, sympathetic sweethearts of that ABC television show replaced by a panel of embittered, suffering or enraged Arab women" -the Times review of Black Eyed
Tickets were extemely hard to come by for the last few weeks of the run. I just hope that they plug a lot of money into the marketing of the show. As amazing as it is, its going to be tough sell on Broadway.
I just hope they keep the "audience participation" part in !! Seeing that (dont want to "Spoil") in a larger house would be incredible !

The Post article blames the recession.
