He was out at the matinee because of illness. I'm guessing he thought he was feeling better (stomach bug) but that became a fail.
I've never experienced a mid show replacement. Must be weird for the cast and audience alike.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

^ I saw Jay a couple of weeks ago and I thought he was pretty good. I obviously liked Gavin better, but I thought that Jay did a great job for only his 2nd performance. If/when he gets a couple of more performances under his belt, I think that he will be amazing. I also think that he has got a very beautiful voice.
He was pretty good, nothing amazing but did the role well. It was my first time with a mid show replacement too, and I was thrown a little off guard. I think I would have cared more for Claude as a character if the switch had not happened- though I still cared for him enough to love the show.
I saw the show Saturday night. He played the first act and then the production manager came out at the end of intermission and said that she felt he wasn't well enough to continue. I thought Gavin seemed a bit lackluster in the energy dept (compared to Will), but after she said he was sick, it made sense. I'm glad I got tickets to take my brother next month. I'm looking forward to seeing him play the entire show.
