Who could you picture playing Fanny?

Leslie Kritzer

I wouldn't kick Leslie Kritzer out of bed...I mean out of a Funny Girl revival.

They're never going to revive it, though - Streisand owns that role so completely.

PiraguaGuy, we get it. You're straight.

Maybe you should put it in your signature so you wouldn't need to keep reminding everyone all the time.

You gays are allowed to salivate whenever anyone brings up Cheyenne Jackson or Nick Adams...do I smell discrimination?

You have to cast a Jewish girl as Fanny, otherwise you have to change the title to FUNNY GOY.

Stephanie J. Block.

I love Stephanie to death and have suggested her for many ridiculous roles, but...no. Under no circumstances.

Leslie Kritzer.
Stephanie J. Block wouldn't be believable as Fanny Brice simply because she lacks the "it" factor required to carry the show. She can do it in regional theatre, but she would just not work for Broadway.

Dame Edna

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

My first choice is Ana Gasteyer, and I don't care if she's too old. However, if Nicole Parker continues to improve as the comments on this board indicate, I could see her as Fanny.

Kritzer played Fanny at the Papermill, so I wouldn't want to see her take on the role again (although she was good).

Mimi Hines
I'm not sure if she is Jewish,
but she kicked Ass in the part and kept it running on Broadway.
Streisand may have "owned" it,
but Mimi proved she could Rent it to the Max!

Is Nicole Jewish (not that that's a requirement, just curious)? I'd love to see Ana first--age isn't important. From watching the concert of Funny Girl, she has INCREDIBLE stage presence. You Are Woman, I Am Man, which usually seems pretty boring to me, was exciting because of her! I'd love to see Leslie do it, but Ana is a much bigger name. She'd be wonderful!

The poor dead horse we keep beating as we discuss this futile revival? I really think it's his time to shine!

Stephanie J Block has done this role several times. She is marvelous as Fanny. She can make you cry, laugh and want to be her friend all at the same time. She is one of the best woman actors to handle a role of this magnitude. She has the pipes and acting skills to compete with Streisand (at least for this millennium). She has said in past interviews . . . she would love to do this role!

I sort of want to hear Leigh Ann Larkin sing the songs. I am unsure of how confident I am in this but I just think she is killer. Maybe it is because I am going through serious Gypsy withdrawal.

No, did you see her perform "Don't Rain on My Parade" at the Kennedy Honors thing? It was not good.
