Wow. I never had the chance to see her live, but I find her absolutely phenomenal on THE WILD PARTY recording. RIP
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
Moving Uptown (music & lyrics by Michael John La Chuisa)
You are looking at a woman who invented “The Walk”. You know “The Walk.” I invented that you are looking at a female who has driven men to homicide How? Must you ask? Look at these beautiful legs These legs were built to drive men mad- would you like to dance? But first- I hear you’re moving uptown I’ll move with you I hear your taking talent Talent I do. I do I’ve headlined with the best I can still pack them in You need help moving uptown! I know the way cuz I’ve already been…
When you look around the room- look? Tell me what do you see Imitations of imitations I invented myself! I’m a creature who sacrificed love for her art Why, you may ask With these smoldering lips: Do you know what it’s like to kiss such smoldering lips?
Would you like to find out?
But first: I hear you’re movin’ uptown Let’s go, you lead I’m ready for the big times That’s what I need, I need I need to return to the place Where I used to belong I hear you’re moving uptown
Gold Well, Miss Montoya-
Dolores Dolores
Gold Dolores. It’s early in the game. Who can tell? Lots of details to be worked out.
Goldberg Lots.
Gold Lots
(confidentially)
Which is exactly what it feel like. Lot’s wife. And she is Sodom and Gomorrah incarnate.
Goldberg Then don’t turn around. Don’t look back.
(they look back)
Dolores I hear you’re taking me a long I hear you’re taking me You’re taking me, you’re taking me, you’re Taking me Along!

This is such sad news !!! What an amazingly talented performer ! And she couldn't be nicer and more gracious when I met her at the "NINE" stagedoor ! She happily posed for a picture and chatted with me for about 10 minutes, recalling to me stories of her stay in Greece, a long time ago ! RIP, wonderful LADY !
Oh my God. I just read this and couldn't believe it, literally gasped. The theater has lost two great ones today. RIP Eartha Kitt.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
Her tango w Banderas in "Nine" was one of the highlights of that show. A real "triple threat". So much talent and she kept working obviously even after her diagnosis. A real loss to us all.
The Wild Party & Mimi La Duck were the last 2 things we saw her in
I fondly remember her as the 2 nd & Maybe best Catwoman on Batman. We have lost another one . What a rotten year. Their is a bright spot. According to CNN, she taped a special in Chicago 6 weeks ago for PBS & it will air in february. No details were given regarding this. At least we have this to look forward to.
So very sad to hear this. Eartha gave one of the best -- no, the best -- one-person shows I ever saw back in the late 80s/early 90s. She looked phenomenal and didn't miss a beat throughout the whole show. Also saw her in Wild Party -- you couldn't look at anyone else when she was onstage. And her version of Monotonous was definitive. I spoke to her once after Wild Party -- she was walking her dog at the time and I held the leash while she was signing autographs. RIP, Eartha, you were truly one of a kind and they just don't make 'em like you anymore. And don't forget that she took on Lady Bird re: the mess in Vietnam.
