So it's official. I really, really, f*cking hate the show so my curiosity isn't strong enough to sit through it again to see how he does. I don't think his voice has the power to be convincing, but I like him so I hope he surprises me.

agreed, unless he has developed a much stronger voice, i don't think he has the power behind his voice to carry this off.

Having never seen the show done professionally, I was looking forward to seeing the show when I come over to the UK from Australia in January.

Should I catch Lee while he's still in, or should I just wait till Gareth takes over?

Lee sounds like a muppet at times but he has stage presence. See him while you can.

Just DON'T go go go !!!!
There are so many far superior shows that you should see before even thinking of seeing this!
Regular posters will now bombard you with suggestions! Go with them!
'Hairspray' -there's a start and there's no sign of that arriving down under anytime soon. As long as you go Tue to sat you'll stil get to seethe original cast!

oh you so dont need a powerful voice, or even a half decent voice to play Joseph...just look at Craig on the UK tour..BLOODY DREADFUL,As is the Narrator, as is the bland pharaoh etc etc etc

Joseph must be banned for the sanity of Front Of House staff around the world lol

Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna

BFO2, if you're looking to see it done professionally, my advice would be to stay well away from the Adelphi. Seriously, although Lee Mead is good, the show just looks like a giant dog has eaten a school play and a whole load of tinsel, gone into the Adelphi and shat it out with great difficulty on the stage. Don't waste your time on it... go and see Zorro!!

Thanks Mama. I think I might give it a miss actually, and I don't really feel like trying to get tickets for the last week (which'll probably be sold out with middle aged Lee fanatics anyway)

I just saw a great video of Michael Ball in Hairspray from "the site that shall not be named" and he seemed to hit the role out of the ball park. I know he extended a while back, but when is he scheduled to leave?

Like everyone says, Hairspray is a good start - catch this cast as they are superlative.

It would be difficult to get me into a revival of a revival (Joseph, Oliver) or a jukebox musical.

The Donmar and National are always worth checking out.
