At the conclusion of LuPone's contract.

Said Roger Berlind in a statement, "I know I speak on behalf of my partners when I say that this production has been one of the most gratifying endeavors of our professional careers. Legendary director Arthur Laurents assembled a superb company lead by the incomparable Patti LuPone. And, while we wish Gypsy could entertain us all much longer, it has become clear to us that there is no way to replace the irreplaceable."

Oh geez... here we go again.

Patti herself informed the media and everyone on this planet this info over a week ago.

Emma Zaks is missing from the Playbill article cast listing. She's in the official press release regarding the closing...is she in the show or is this a copy/paste error on Playbill's part? Or is Bar/Hart wrong?

Or something more sinister (dun dun DUUNH)??

Sorry, that's just my overactive imagination getting the best of me.

it's a copy/paste error, most likely. she's listed on the official website.

It makes me sad that Patti has to perform with that attention whore.

So sad to see this brilliant production of a brilliant musical with a brilliant cast leave.

I love this production, it's damn near flawless and the best production of a musical on Broadway right now, with what is arguably the best performance on Broadway right now at its center. I'm hopefully going to be at closing night!

I would love to attend the final show as well - I just wanted to ask, being that I have a slight problem with my balance, how is it in the MEZZ sections? Last time I was in seats like those was three years ago at chicago, and luckily I had two friends with me holding my hand. Is it steep...I'm just too afraid of falling, and having to stand while others have to pass. Which is why I always have to but orch seats (not that I'm complaining, but I would love to save a dollar or two.) I'm just too afraid due to my balance. Will I have trouble? I will go alone to this one.

Unless it's the rear mezzanine there is no price difference.

Haha!

BroadwayWorld has weird ads like that sometimes. One time they had something about a Young Frankenstein tour and to click on the picture for dates.

I guess I'll just ask my GYPSY question here so I don't have to make a new thread: I'm planning to see the show in December, but my limited funds only allow me to buy one of the cheaper seats (meaning anything under $100). Will I see alright from the balcony ($32-52, according to Telecharge), or should I spend the 'extra money' ($77) on a seat in the mezzanine?

The question is . . . what will the rush scene be like?

I chose, and my world was shaken. So what? The choice may have been mistaken. The choosing was not.

Well with my trip being the weekend before Christmas, I'd like to buy my tickets online beforehand just to be safe. Sure, the economy sucks these days, and people aren't splurging on goodies like live theatre like they used to, but when it's that close to Christmas, I'd rather go into the city knowing I'll be able to see the show. Know what I mean?

SweeneyPhanatic,

I like the front row of the Balcony at the St. James...if you can get front row...it's really not bad...just high up but still close to the stage.

Anything further back in the balcony, and you might have to lean forward to avoid heads from the rows in front of you. But even that is just a minor annoyance, relatively speaking. And if you need to scrimp and save, the Balcony is a great place to hear a big, old Broadway show with a belty star and that fabulous orchestra.

And this show...there ain't a bad seat in the house (with that said, I'd avoid the rear mezz three rows behind the overhang b/c balcony overhangs annoy me). Love love love this revival, and it deserves all the accolades it gets.

Gypsy is usually on TKTS. Take a gamble there.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Thanks for all the input. I've decided to just go ahead and get a good balcony seat and save my money for souvenirs & stuff (I'm seeing three shows on this trip, and I plan to buy stuff while I can!).

OT time done! Thanks again!

Great production, great cast, I'm sad to see it go. I'll probably rush it on the final day, just to see if I can score some seats.

Not so sad because this show has had an amazingly good run for something that's been revived over and over. 3 acting Tonys, rave reviews for the entire cast. Patti will go on to do her concert tour afterwards, and others will of course move on to do new and exciting shows.

I just went and picked up my ticket today. First row balcony (by choice due to funds and having already seen this production a couple of times). :)
