Posted: 11/5/08 at 1:38amMy roommates and I all said Obama should have played it during his acceptance speech. There was one part where he said something like We've come so far but..." and we all broke out into song.

I saw her on tour back in 2005 and I remember being blown away. I can't find a recording of her singing it anywhere though. Guess I'll have to wait until closing night!
And I agree. The fact that history was made last night makes one of the big messages and triumphs of HAIRSPRAY so meaningful right now. You hear that song now and you can't help but think of the magnitude of what happened on November 4th, 2008. A new date for the history books. Maybe Charlotte or Darlene or Mary or Jenifer can sing it at his inaguration.
