I was reading through this thread and wanted to add that if audiences have to pay full price for Preview tickets then they are entitled to a mostly flawless performance.

But I see that Q and Besty and a few others beat me to it. So, I'll just add my agreement.

I frequently enjoy going to a Preview performance and then returning at a later date to see what has been done to tighten the show up, but, at full price tickets I expect that the technical aspects of the show have been worked out and are performance-ready during previews.

Reduced price Preview tickets are the answer.

While I'm sure the gang at the Imperial will get their stuff together... Is it entirely possible that the physical structures shows on Broadway are getting too big and just complicated for the sake of complicating. I know audiences like to see their $100 on stage, but it's sort of ridiculous.

First off, not everyone booed. There seemed to be a small group in the rear center orch (I sat on the right), then each time the performers reentered the stage there was huge applause, so the booing was clearly directed at technical staff.
In all my years of theatre going I never saw anything like this. I felt like I was attending a rehearsal, with all the "let's take this back from the start, 5 6 7 8...". I also agree, $136.50 is a lot of money to pay for a preview, and being that this show was so "eagerly anticipated", they take what they can get.
They offered comps in exchange, not refunds, and I don't know how it'll be handled either, probably box office only which is tough if you're from out of town.
As for me, I already bought tickets for mid December, so I guess now I'll be seeing it a third time, perhaps May just before the Tony's.
btw. I loved the show, and I'll discuss it further on the love thread.
Edit: I also wanted to comment about the general condition of the Imperial Theatre. From the well worn carpets, all black at the edges, a few of the seat cushions I noticed were torn, upon close inspection the wood floor on the stage has seen better days, the water fountains didn't work, and the lines at the very cramped men's room (after a very long first act) were the longest I have ever been in (I sympathize with you ladies).
This show a a good chance of running for several years and it's sad the Shuberts didn't do a make-over before hand. Where is that $1.50 restoration money going? Updated On: 10/5/08 at 03:23 PM

Well if they were booing the techincal staff then that's just as horrible. The techincial staff works just as hard as the actors. It's INCREDIBLY difficult to draft a set, work out the electrical aspects, and make sure it works every night. I would never boo in a theatre, and especially not towards the techinical staff. It's the same as saying that the technical staff is worthless. Sets malfunction, lights malfunction, it happens. I don't care how much I pay, to boo at the technical staff is extremely disrespectful.

Thanks a lot LtInOregon. I won't call you an ass, but that was an idiotic thing to put in the middle of your post with no spoiler thing. I still can't wait to see it, but gezz, good job moron.

I also would never boo for anyone unless I saw Obama on stage. But that is a whole different issue. :/

I was there last night and went to get my new ticket today. Of course they have "black out dates". Hmmm...the man last night said to come back for "any performance".

it'sjustshowbiz- What did you have to do to get your new ticket? Just go to the bow office and hand in your ticket from Sat night? I figure I'm going to stop by sometime this week to get my replacement ticket.
