Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

I'Im surprised that no one here posted on the Dress yesterday. Considering it's such a high profile show, and already proven in London. Kinda odd for this Board, eh?
WishingOnlyWounds2, Kiril was on for the invited dress rehearsal last night. They had a final run through this afternoon at 1:30, so I'd imagine a different boy is on now and the remaining one who has yet to go on for an audience will play the first preview tonight, no?

kiril was billy last night for dress and frank dolce as michael. i wouldnt be surprised if david is on tonight as billy and trent as billy for opening night. they should have a alternating schedule for michael at least for the previews.
i cant wait to hear the reviews, especially from you wat. enjoy yourself wat.
i wouldnt be surprise if the press is their for the previews.
I went by the theatre today after the wicked matinee to pick up my ticket for tonight. The final run-through seemed to just be letting out when I got to the theatre. They had David's name up on the board, but I think that might have been for the final run-through and not for the first preview tonight. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
I can't wait for tonight. I loved the show in London and am excited to see this cast's take on the show.
I ADORED the show in London ! Yes, the music is not anything fantastic, but it is such an EMOTIONAL, incredible piece of theater ! You guys are in for a HUGE treat !!!
i saw the invited dress today and although they stopped a few times, it was incredible. david alvarez was billy and was amazing, just adorable. The show will do very well, EVERYONE shines in it.
actr2b, I posted this about Frank Dolce in another thread:
re: BILLY ELLIOT - First Preview - 10/01/08 Posted On: 10/2/08 at 08:31 PM
Frank Dolce is adorable! He adds a sweetness to the character that I did not see when played by the actor I saw in London. (Sorry I don't know the West End actor's name. He was excellent, just "different" from Dolce.)
Very likable, not smart-alecky, and just playful and joyous! He also tap dances up a storm! I loved how he and Kiril Kulish played off each other.
He's simply super!

My friend called me from intermission and said that David is doing a great job (he is really enjoying the show by the way). Also, they had to stop the show during "Angry Dance" for a couple minutes because the set wasn't working...or something along those lines. I'm sure we'll get more details later this evening...
I'm on my way home on my Blackberry so Ill post a full review once I get home but ... WOW. They had to stop the show for about five minutes during the act one finale dance due to technical difficulties but got back on track right away. David Alvarez was FANTASTIC. I haven't seen a more perfect new musical in a long time. Flaws and all (MINIMAL flaws), this is what theater should be. I was a mess by the end, hysterically crying. I love this show.
