Question for those in the know...

How was The Hatpin? I missed it and regret that fact. I thought about purchasing the Australian Cast Recording but before I did so wanted to get a review. Is the show dark and moody as it seems by their website? I like those type shows.
Thanks for the help.

It's a pretty dark (supposedly true) story. The story has the capacity to be very compelling, but the way it's told in the show just makes it really predictable. The writing is okay, but sort of dull. The music isn't really bad, but it just sounds like stuff we've all heard a million times before. I didn't hate it, but I've seen much better things at the NYMF.

Disagree- I really enjoyed it! Yes, agree that the story's predictable- it's called The Hatpin, anyone who has ever gone thru a "true crime" book reading phase could tell you how it was going to play out and what the big reveal was going to be- but for me the getting there was what made the show enjoyable. I liked the 'dark and twisty' of it, loved the music, and actually a little regret not picking up the cast recording while I was there... I only saw five NYMF shows this year, but The Hatpin was easily my fav.
