re: Spiderman Open Callsre: Spiderman Open Calls

what happened to Jim Sturgess?? There goes... quite a bit of my interest in the show! haha

I still have some interest, seeing as Julie IS still directing it, but. Yeah. Jim was a BIG draw for me, and now it sounds as though he won't be in it!

Do you think Julie will be at these calls?

"Do you think Julie will be at these calls?"

No, it's not an Equity call and the casting agent Telsey & Company will handle it.

I'm surprised how they are casting the roles so young. Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst definitely did not seem like they were in the age range of 16-20 in the movies.

When I first saw the story on playbill I was bracing myself for another reality show.

Omens. One of the producers, I understand, died at the contract signing.

"Where is batman the musical?"

There was actually an episode of Batman Beyond about that. Terry took Bruce to see the show and Bruce wasn't impressed.

"I didnt even know that was ever a consideration."

Jim did the reading along with his Across the Universe costar, Evan Rachel Wood, as Mary Jane.

Where is batman the musical?

Steinman never finished it. Which is a shame, I liked what he had, but I think he's missed his window. It would've tied in a lot better with the Burton idea of Batman than the Nolan idea. re: Spiderman Open Calls

"Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst definitely did not seem like they were in the age range of 16-20 in the movies."

I may be mistaken, since I haven't seen the movies in a while, but I believe in their first movie they were in their senior year of high school. So looking for someone around the age of 16-20 isn't that far off from the plot of the movie, even though Tobey McGuire and Kirstin Dunst looked older.

The demo that's going around isn't actually the demo for the Julie Taymor production. Thank god. If you go on castalbums.com, you can see that there's two different Spider-man musicals, and what's been going around as the demo is not for the Taymor production.

I don't think I'm even going to mention this one to my daughter.

While I thought she was right for "Spring Awakening," i don't think this would be as good a fit.

Anyway, she went to an open call for Ang Lee's Woodstock movie filming in Columbia County and according to her mom, they liked her a lot. She'd be an extra and has no idea if or when she'll be called, but it's promising...

Am I really the only one who still has SOME interest in this thing?

I mean... aside from the fact that the unbelievably brilliant Julie Taymor is directing, can you really go that wrong with a score by Bono? (not sure about The Edge- never heard anything by them haha)

The main thing I'm worried about is the book. But it's just it's got one of the best directors and one of the best musicians going for it.. so I'm still inclined to believe it might just be pretty darn impressive after all.

I'm still sad about Jim not doing it though- he was the third part of what was making me actually excited about it! As long as they cast well, though, I'll still give it a chance. It could be terrible, but.. it might just not be!
