It could work!

I mentioned it because David Tennant is a fantastic stage actor, "leading man" John Barrowman was strutting his stuff and Billie Piper did quite well in the West End last year.

I'm just trying to broaden everyone's horizons, so that we don't antagonize Crazy Janice so much...

Does Dr Who's regeneration have something to do with all the West End musical posters regenerating themselves as Evil Dead posters on this site?

Okay, you REALLY can't post stuff like that here. I know that if I don't want to know I just shouldn't click the link, but IT'S NOT THAT EASY. It's like a big red button with a "DO NOT PUSH" sign. XD

That's pretty much the primary rumour that's been flying around though, so I'm not upset. I'd've been more upset had it turned out to be "Tennant's leaving, AHA!".

Are we liking the new Davros, as played by my avatar? He does good work when covered in make-up and prosthetics, no? XD

Robert Carlisle is in advance talks to play the Dr.

A young actress with Noel coward after a dreadful opening night performance said to him 'Well, i knew my lines backwards this morning!'' Noels fast reply was ''Yes dear, and thats exactly how you said them tonight'!'

Yeah, I heard that too. But when you compare the headline ("Carlyle to be Who!") to the text of the story (Carlyle saying "Would I do it? Possibly."), I'm pretty inclined to disbelieve it. Journalism rocks. :3

Besides, Tennant will be replaced eventually, but seeing as he's already commenced (even completed?) filming of the specials that are meant to tide us over while he Danes it up, it's not going to happen just yet. And Robert Carlyle sounds much more like fannish wishful thinking than a solid rumour. Although I'll merrily consume my words if I'm ultimately wrong, of course. ^_^

Well... now that the finale has come and gone, is anyone going to share their thoughts?

Yup! For an episode that's been kept so secret, it was shockingly predictable once it got going. Honestly now, who *didn't* see RTD giving Rose a Ten-clone to play with? He's SUCH a fanboy of his own creations. At least we are DONE with Rose now. I'm tremendously pissed off about what happened with Donna though. While I can see why Ten would wipe her memory to keep her alive despite it seeming unbearably cruel to us, I still feel terriblly sad about the loss of my favourite Who-companion ever. If you're going to send everyone off willynilly for happy endings ahoy, why not hunt down Stuttering Lee and send Donna off on many adventures with him, granted with her memory of the Doctor erased?

I'm glad Moffat is taking over. He's a great writer, he's capable of marvellously dark stuff, he's not all pathetically in love with... actually, scratch what I was about to say. After that episode, I wouldn't be surprised if Moffat got infected with RTD's idiocy and brought Sally Sparrow in as the new companion in 2010. *rolls eyes*

The first part(s) of this story were aces. This last episode just made me sad, and not even in the way I was meant to feel sad. I can honestly say I'm FAR more looking forward to new 'Torchwood' than new 'Who', and that's NOT just because I'm a Barrowman fangirl.

There we are; my vitriol, laid bare. ^_^

That was my thought... why not show us a 21st century Lee so that we fans would have a hope that Donna would have a very happy life?

I'm fairly new to Dr. Who, so I didn't have the same issues you had with this last episode. Rose never bothered me the way she seems to have bothered a lot of people, but, I can see your point about the duplicate Doctor.

I was very sad about Donna's fate, crying from the time after they left Rose and her Doctor on that beach to the end. That speech by her grandfather really did me in as well.

Interestingly enough, a lot of people over on the Dr. Who IMDB boards who really disliked Catherine Tate being chosen as the new companion are now hailing her as the best one ever, and are calling for a BAFTA nomination/award.

Why not Sally Sparrow?

Sally Sparrow is young, blonde, perky, cute, feisty. She could go her own way as a character. Buuut she could just as easily end up as Rose Mk 2.0. I wouldn't have minded Rose so much if only RTD hadn't made it plain from the get-go that he thought she was his best idea ever. She got terribly MarySueish. I'm happier seeing the companions moving away from the Rose mould, which is probably a lot of the reason I was so terrifically pleased with Donna.

Also I had very low expectations of Donna, never liking Catherine Tate even the slightest bit until several episodes after falling for Donna, so that probably helped as well. I'm always the most pleased with the things I have the lowest hopes for. :)

I have to admit that It was sad that The Doctor wiped out Donna's memory as she was a great companion and different to the female companion that the Doctor has had in the past. But as this is Sci-Fi, I'm am sure there will be a way for Donna to come back in the future.

For the specials and the fifth series in 2010, I'm hoping for a male companion as it would shake the dynamic between the Doctor and his companion. I am also hoping that the Time Lords return in some form especially Romana and The Rani who I have already cast in my mind.

I liked it on the whole - it was a still meaningless technobabble central (as many series finales seem to be) but it was great fun. This series has had some great episodes and the last one just didn't quite measure up, but can't wait for the Moffat-guided Series 5 in 2010.

It says a lot about Catherine Tate that so many poeple have been quite angry about what happened to Donna - a fate even bleaker than that of of 'The Family' in the third series - but I liked that not everyone had a neat happy ending (especially after Rose was bizarrely given her own Doctor sex-toy).

Still not made my mind up about Torchwood - the first series ranged from terrible to bearable but the second series improved a lot. That's the candidate for a musical adaptation, especially with a ready-made leading man. Though musical sci-fi is rare and usually unsuccessful (Metropolis, Time - any others?)

I enjoyed it on the whole, especially when the Doctor(s) and all the companions were driving the Tardis, although thought the Doctor regenerating back into David Tennant because of the severed hand was quite predictable.

I admit, I was one of the people dreading seeing Catherine Tate as the new companion, then very quickly grew to love her and I was also pretty angry about her ending. Having said that, if Rose can be brought back from a parallel world, I'm sure Donna's memories can be restored somehow.
