Marketing At the Stage Door#1
Posted: 6/9/08 at 1:27am
A friend of mine told me that he met a friend in college (I know it sounds like a family line) that said when he would see a Broadway show and stage door afterwards, he would have a card or resume ready to give the actors he meets or even the stage door manager. He saw it as "marketing".

I told my friend this was dumb. What is everyone elses thoughts?

That is so STUPID. Another actor isn't going to help him get a job.

He's most likely just killing trees for nothing because those cards and resumes most likely end up in the trash.

I agree that is not the best place to hand people that sort of thing. It would be one thing if they just happened to coincidently meet somewhere and talk about that sort of thing, but other than that, it is a waste of time.

Yeah, they all went straight into the trash, or got left in the car.

What the hell? Why? I don't get it, how does handing a resumé to an actor land you a job???

Why would the actors care?
