"Tough thing about Broadway is eight shows a week. It's slavery. That needs to be adjusted. It's wrong. Actors work three years straight sometimes with one day off. This exhaustion puts you into depression. Like today [Wednesday] it's two shows. I have to put makeup on, take makeup off. Not like in movies with whole departments to fluff and puff you. In between performances, I have to study with my son, who's taking Bible and guitar. And we're filming this play for the archives. Come 7:30, I have to take another look at the script, get into the mind-set again, then sign autographs, pose for photos with fans and thank them for their attention and for coming. Monday, your one day off, you have to cram in all your meetings and appointments and the rest of your whole life, and hope you can survive on Benadryl. I love what I'm doing. No cameraman's saying, 'Stand here . . . look there.' It's not all done in five-minute takes. Your work has to be inside you. You push beyond your comfort zone. Broadway is an actor's revenge. I couldn't do Broadway again if it's more than five a week. I'd just say no. N-O. Not doing it. I'm not saying it has to be my way. I'm saying they can get somebody else. I always listen. If your point is right, then I will make adjustments. It's not arrogance. It's just that I have to live with me the rest of my life."

- Idiot Terrence Howard, currently starring on Broadway in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof

Roof.

And change your subject title to something more juicy if you want people to read it.

The title should be: Terrence Howard is a Cry-Baby.

Oh well, maybe they'll just have to find some real actors to fill the roles that Terrence Howard won't be taking.

Just curious, will anyone miss Terrence?

Okay Terrence. Let me try and feel sorry for you... no? mmkay.

I mean I understand how it would be difficult for people to go from doing films to Broadway, but at the same time Anika and Phylicia have done both back and forth.

I'm disappointed in him after reading that.

Told you so! He also threw a tantrum when he didn't receive a Tony nomination and missed two weeks of performances. According to my sources, he was out of the show again last night and won't be back this weekend.

He was the biggest disapointment in Cat. Well, aside from the direction.

"In theater, the process of it is the experience. Everyone goes through the process, and everyone has the experience together. It doesn't last - only in people's memories and in their hearts. That's the beauty and sadness of it. But that's life - beauty and the sadness. And that is why theater is life." - Sherie Rene Scott

get over it, Terry.

the real actors don't need you on the East coast. Go back to your cushy villa in California and play for a camera for the rest of your life.

This quote really makes me re-think the amount of respect I have for him as an "actor"

He couldn't stand the heat.

He exited the kitchen.

Good riddance.

Lets move on.

Shouldn't Perez be giving credit for that quote to Cindy Adams/NYPost?

Wow. You were telling the truth.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that he is "pissing" on Broadway since he has been "pissing" on everything else he touches lately.

Typical man. Women have been juggling career and family for YEARS. Let a man have to juggle a part-time job, ONE child, and a few errands...and he can't handle it.

No great loss to the theatre.

He's a waste.

Good riddance, Terrence. The live theatre is better off without you, with your inability to effectively create and portray a character or even attempt to project. Hack.

What a whiney little b*tch. Although doing a show like "Cat" is emotionally exhausting I'm sure, being in a Broadway show, technically, is still a PART-TIME JOB. What about people who work fifty or sixty hours a week? THAT is "slavery" as he would call it.

No wonder I couldn't understand a word he said for the whole first act. It was a Wednesday night, clearly when he cares even less than on a one show day.

And hang on, when did you win the discus?

It Is slvery, T-ball. You realize that only black actors work that schedule, right? Patti LuPone be doing 4 shows a week tops and she sits down most the time.

Poor guy. He also probably hates Broadway because of all the homosexuals, who he has called "sinners" in interviews before.

Though he is indeed whining, his point-of-view is shared by numerous actors who have started on the stage and would NEVER return due to that 'crazy 8 performances a week schedule". This has also kept some actors from making their Broadway debuts.

Richard Gere, Liza Minnelli and Barbra Streisand are just a trio of actors who have said that they would NEVER return to the stage due to this schedule. Queen Latifah has stated that this is what has kept her away from making her Broadway debut.
