I have a feeling her next stop after Broadway is going to be London.

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."

I can't imagine Miss Patti doing a "Gypsy" tour. It's an arduous role to manage on Broadway, much less taking it from city to city. A more realistic scenario would be a London run of "Gypsy". from RC in Austin, Texas P.S. I hope to get a chance to see her at the stage door. She's not doing backstage visits, per a recent email from her.
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
As has been mentioned, Ethel Merman did a 6 month tour of GYPSY immediately after the Broadway run, which I saw 3 times. The tour's first stop was Rochester,NY where I was attending the University of Rochester at the time. GYPSY played the cavernous Auditorium Theatre there and they got extra ushers from the University. I, of course, signed up to usher along with my theatre-going buddy. They did not pay the University ushers, but as soon as you had everyone seated, you could stand and watch the show. I did this twice.
Before the audience started filing into the theatre, I saw Jack Klugman (who played Herbie) come out on stage, look at the theatre, and loudly comment, "Boy, what a Barn!" I also remember the scenery getting stuck at one point during the show and the pit conductor, Milton Rosenstock (who conducted many of Jule Styne's musicals) shouted directions to the stage hands from his perspective of being center orchestra.
I have been going through some old papers recently and came across a copy of a telegram that my theatre buddy and I sent to Ethel Merman at the end of her 6 month tour in St. Louis, Missouri. It read: "Glad everything came up roses on your tour. Gypsy is the best damn musical we've seen." I wonder who the hell Merman thought Joe and Walt were. LOL. And what ever happened to telegrams? Do they still exist?
Isn't Patti touring with Mandy Patinkin next Spring? At least I know they are doing a few shows together, so I don't know if she could tour.

Patti has done plenty of touring, including her upcoming mini-tour with Mandy. I don't think this is likely but it has nothing to do with Lupone not wanting to tour. She's done the role 3 Summers in a row, will likely do London, and I figure after London she'd want to move on to something new, perhaps a new musical or play.
