"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."

If they're going to keep doing this they should probably figure out some sort of official hiatus schedule instead of just closing and opening it again every few months.
A young actress with Noel coward after a dreadful opening night performance said to him 'Well, i knew my lines backwards this morning!''
Noels fast reply was ''Yes dear, and thats exactly how you said them tonight'!'
I guess they open/close rathr than go on hiatus to trick people (like I was tricked) into seeing it before it closes.
I hated this amateurish junk when I saw it in February (and posted a thread asking what about it I didn't get, and apparently I got what there was to get). Now it's back? Brother.
I remember speaking to the guy at the box office towards the end of the first run at the Snapple Theatre Center.
He said that The Fantasticks had to close to make way for secrets of a soccer mom which was scheduled to be and was a limited run. He said that there was a chance of the Fantasticks comming back when the run of Soccer Mom was over.
It turns out that he is right and that the show is in fact comming back.
I am hoping that Tom Jones comes back and plays the old actor again. Only because I never had the chance to see it when he was in the revival. This is because the only time I could see it was when he was out on vacation.

I had dinner with Nick Spangler a few weeks ago and at the time he knew nothing about THE FANTASTICKS re-opening. He was in the show for 18 months. He said he doubted that he, or any of the cast he worked with, would return to the show if it did re-open. However, a paycheck is a paycheck.
I can't get in touch with Nick right now because he's in Europe.
