...on his well deserved Lifetime Achievement Award. It's about ****ing time they gave it to you.
And my, er, thoughts are with Mr. Fierstein and Mr. Bucchino, two gentlemen who deserved deserved nominatiins for book and score respectively for A Catered Affair, which incidentally deserved a Best Musical nod too.
Anyway, congrats Mr. S. I almost cried when I read you won. Seriously.

And if he did he wouldn't personally PM you to be BFF for making this post.

Maybe you should make a thread for Marc Shaiman though?

Why? Wasn't it inevitable?

Oh, I know that. I'm no dope. I'm just thrilled for him. There's no one more deserving than he is, aside from John Kander, who will get it some day. It made up for the fact that the attrocious Cry Baby got a Best Musical nomination.

Well, yes it was inevitable, Pbyllis, that I'd cry. I wasn't sure he'd get it though.
And guys, I know I gushed a little, but don't pick me apart. You all KNEW I'd react like this.

I hope this means we will get an extended medly of great Sondheim songs sung by the best of Broadway on the TONY show.
Anything to appease the sting of CRYBABY's multiple nods.

Gush away JV92. The cynics can scoff but that's all they can do.

And whilst the various great and good of the theatre world may not read these boards directly, I'm sure many of them get indirect feedback via their researchers.

Personally, I think Mr Sondheim's catalogue of work is way beyond anything a lifetime achievement award could acknowledge but never-the-less I'm glad he's got it.

I think it's so touching the Tony comittee has chosen to honor theater personalities who would otherwise be forgotten.

Particularly exceptional composers whose songs are so rarely performed and whose shows are almost never revived.
"Hurry up and get into your conga clothes - we've got to do something to save this show!"
