I can see Rashad getting one, but Howard and Rose?
Please. First Laura Bell Bundy, now this? The Sardi's Caricatures are becoming a joke. ****************************************************************
I can see Rashad AND Rose getting one. They are both Broadway veterans and have Tonys. But Howard? NO. Not yet.
Anika Noni Rose is a Broadway veteran? CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF is her third Broadway show. She was a replacement in FOOTLOOSE first, and yes, she did win a Tony for CAROLINE..., but if she hadn't been propelled to fame by DREAMGIRLS, no one would give a damn.
There are true Broadway veterans that don't have their portrait hanging in the famed restaurant...so why these people?
It's becoming a joke. And just like everything else, more about money than actually deserving it.

I stand corrected. I thought Anika's stage career was lengthy. Apparently not.
Munk, while I agree it's way too early to receive a caricature for Ms. Rose, her receiving one is greatly deserved by the star-quality performances she has turned out each night on stage in every show she is in. People gave a damn about her before Dreamgirls, are we seriously going to say she doesn't one because she has achieved some level of success at 35? That's just sour grapes.
No, Munk is just saying she doesn't deserve one because she hasn't worked in the business long enough. It's just that the honor is a tradition symbol for more established veterans. I think that Rose and Laura Bell deserved them WAY more than certain other people (Bob Saget anyone?), but I agree the honor comes too quick.
PLEASE! Do not post anything negative or dramatic! DidYouReallyHearMe has LOST the ability to ignore such posts and he will comment! Please, help him.
With Clay Aiken in Spamalot, all of Broadway is singing a collective "There! Right! There!" -Me-
"Not Barker, Todd is the only person I've ever known who could imitate Katherine Hepburn...in print." -nmartin-
"I stand corrected. I thought Anika's stage career was lengthy. Apparently not."
So, a stage career only counts towards Broadway shows? ***************************************************************** I don't know what you mean. I was only responding to the person who said that Anika's "stage" career was not of a veteran and she didn't deserve a Sardi's caricature.
People, it's a drawing hanging in a restaurant. It's not an induction into the Broadway Hall of Fame.
Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be enbered with your old nonsense. ~ Emerson
